Uberti Cattleman .22 LR Conversion Kit Questions

I've a 4 3/4" .45 Colt Uberti Cattleman (Cimarron imported) and am thinking about buying Uberti's .22 LR conversion kit.

Questions:
Anyone have one?
If so, do you like it?
Is the outside of the barrel liner steel, of a softer metal or material that won't damage the .45's rifling?

Any other information will be helpful.

Thank you.

I went to the website, read the specs and watched the vid. Specs say blued, which implies steel. Watching the vid, the barrel slips effortlessly into the .45 barrel. Since the barrel is smooth, I would not expect it to any damage to the rifling. Looks like the barrel is held in place by rear nut. My guess is that nut is tapered to match the forcing cone, thus centering it. I would also suspect that the front of the .22 barrel has a slight taper to mate with the muzzle crown. I'd probaby be more concerned about the barrel damaging the crown than the rifling in the barrel.

Price is decent. But the rear nut with that piece of steel sticking up above the top strap is going to carve up the inside of your holster if you use one. I think they could have done a better job on the design of that piece.

Since the .22 barrel is in tension, I would expect it to be very accurate. I'll be curious to hear if anyone has one and how it shoots.

No holster, so no interference with the rear nut/sight combination.

I think the odd piece on the top of the frame is the rear sight. If used with the factory sights, it would shoot very low.

Looked at the Taylor's conversion, that was the main fault with it.

That makes sense. I knew that having it hit the top strap stopped it from spinning when tightening the barrel. But sticking like that seemed strange. I thought it might be a sight but was not sure. Does make sense when I think about it.
