Where was it?

I can't seem to find the thread I remember reading sometime ago about an old Ideal 45 colt mould that casted big enough to be used as a light bullet in a 45-70 load. I am 99% sure it was on this site, do any y'all recollect such a thread?

I can't help you with the Ideal mold or the thread ...BUT
I have one that might fill your needs?
I have a older Lee 6 cav GB mold, copy of the Ohaus 270gr SWC that casts larger than desired.
It drops a 267gr bullet that measures .456 on one side of the seam and .457 on the other side.
I size then to .454 for 45 colt.

Well, I've been thinking that I would like to try 250 grain bullets in my 45-70 to save some lead and start new shooters out with lower recoil. I use COWW for all my bullets and size to .459.
JonB, do you have a picture of the cavities on your mold? Possibly I could lap this one a couple thousandths bigger if necessary for they may shoot well as cast.

This one is a little small but if lapped out might be lightweight and easy on new shooters.
