Where would you crimp this one?

I am preparing to load some of the RCBS 250 gr bullets. Would you crimp here on band or would you seat a little further. If I seat deeper the gas check is pat the neck. The bullet is fairly tight and I may try it without a crimp.

Ben, the mold cast like a dream at .3605".
Thanks

I have a 45 that comes up just over the top band for length in one cartridge and fit in another . Both are fine no crimp as long as I neck size deep enough for the whole bullet to have contact .
My 6.8 has the whole band out and half the crimp groove exposed and hasn't shown up any issues either .

Personally in a bolt gun I'd let it ride as is .

It's difficult to even speculate without knowing the powder type and load level, crimp does a lot more than just retain the bullet. Neck tension, fit in the throat, amount of jam if any, bullet toughness, etc. all play into crimp decisions, with the target having the last word. If you're shooting fast rifle or medium/slow pistol/shotgun powders, I'd try it first with no crimp at all, and maybe even a little bellmouth left (just enough to scuff the chamber neck lightly) as long as they'll feed that way.

To further complicate things...just for discussion purposes cause,I don't see it as being that hard?

Other than my single shot TC's,and H&R's...all my fodder gets fed up through a mag.On the first order, the OAL and crimp needs to maintain integrity concerning such.If it has a mag....the loading and discipline is figured on utilizing that capacity.

This fits the mag. I was concerned about pushing gas check below neck and crimping on driving band.
Thanks

Cool, and gotta say, your scale pics are spot on.

My 7-08 ...and maybe a cpl other loadings?see the GC below the neck.Never thought that much about it?I know some folks like to wax on about it.Right or wrong,it just has not been a problem here. But then,I can't seem to load any CB's without a Dacron filler.Again, don't "think" any other way?

Without going completely off the ranch, how well you shoot...and how well a guy practices, learning proper techniques WRT the intended purposes of the rig he's shooting (bench gun vs sporter) plays as big a role as certain high tech loading applications. If that makes sense.

I'm struggling trying to understand how my EDC,4x scoped 7-08 can,day in/day out produce results,SO close to one of my tack driving 700V's.Just chalk it up to how well balanced they are.Considering I can jack 5 rounds out of certain rigs,up through the mag...

Almost as good as tuned bench guns.Beats me Brother.

Completely abstract here....

There's a momma deer with her attendant fawn in the backyard. They are alert to my presence, sitting on the back porch.I get up and take a leak off said porch....and it some how calms them out.Hard to explain...doh.Just sayin, there are some things that are natural WRT nature.

That's how you need to approach shooting. It needs to be a natural extension of your"being".It just seems the harder some folks (not brother,he's Mr scale in my book) try,the harder the results come?
