I found out one thing about Texas

Boston drivers have a reputation as being the most rude and I can vouch that it is a well earned reputation. Surprisingly they are not rude when outside of their cars.
Northern Virginia/ Metro D.C. traffic is mind boggling.
Having lived in southeast Florida, I can concur with David s' warning that Tomme Boy should never venture into those parts. Although I will say that when the traffic is moving in south Florida, it moves at an incredible speed.
New Jersey, particularly north east Jersey, is interesting to say the least. Along those same lines is the Long Island Expressway when the traffic is actually moving. That road functions like a parking lot half of the time. The other half of the time it looks like your in the old Asteroids video arcade game from the early 1980's.

As far as bad drivers in general - I'm afraid that disease has infected the entire world.

Having spent a little time on the fringe of the LA basin its wholly believable that the average speed is 45 mph across the entire metro area from Burbank south to the fruit cities . (Lemon Grove , Orange etc) it spends about 2.5 hr a day from 7:30 Monday to 6:15 Friday at 3-15 mph and 45ish from 11-1 M-F . During the 55 days 65 in the 3rd of 5 lanes was as often normal as it was slow lane out of the 2 truck lanes on the right .

I stand by the "Citiots" and "City Dwellers" tags . They're so pushed together all of the time that they lose that sense of personal space ....we have to have an order to tell them to allow more than 2 body depths between shopping carts in the check out lines and to not breathe on one another in public . It's little wonder they drive the same way .

Let's don't forget the guy that drive 45-50 peddling through miles of no passing just enough traffic you can't pass and speeds up to 75+ in every passing zone and 4 lane area only to slow down and hug the line .

Another personal favorite is the one that runs up on you (when you're doing 70/65 of wide open highway) by 5-7 mph and just sits on your bumper in spite of being able to see nothing coming for 5 miles and either sits there until you go through a town with 4 lanes where all of the sudden 65/45 isn't fast enough or they wait until they're down to 1500-2000 feet closing distance at 140-160 mph with oncoming traffic to pass (70 mph both ways the space goes away at 140 mph) after 10+ miles of nothing but open road and my bumper .

Lastly is the guy that signals a right turn and pulls all the way to the left to make the turn on a road resembling a 3 lane city street with parallel parking or bike lanes . The skinny drive through 1 lane a cattle guard I get , but they even do it with a whole lane wide shoulder . The same applies to left turns from the rumble strip on the right .

One of my favorite personal games is playing: "Narcissistic or Oblivious" ? This game is not confined to driving situations, you can play it anywhere there are human beings. Just watch people and ask yourself - Are they narcissistic or oblivious ?

For example, a traffic engineer was kind enough to provide a nice big left turn lane so that drivers could wait to turn left without obstructing the traffic behind them. Some driver comes along and wants to turn left but can't quite get his/her vehicle completely into that left turn lane and manages to block TWO lanes while they are waiting to turn. Narcissistic or Oblivious ?
I know what you are thinking - probably just oblivious; ....but wait. They miss several opportunities to safely make that left turn because they are texting and not paying attention to the world around them. Now you may be inclined to label them as narcissistic.

AH HA! It was a trick question, Narcissistic and Oblivious are not mutually exclusive. People can be BOTH incredibly self-centered AND hopelessly stupid !

At large, whereabouts unknown.
When I worked in Omaha several years back it was pretty easy to identify the worst drivers. The always seemed to have some sort of decal from Offut AFB on their vehicle. I kind of miss them now, with all the immigration, the scary ones now all drive about 15 MPH, and often turn in any direction without warning or signal. With the Lincoln Police in "stand down" mode anymore, most traffic laws and traffic controls (lights, signs, etc) are merely a suggestion.

Petrol & Powder's "Narcissistic or Oblivious" triggered one of my pet peeves. I'm rather constantly being bombarded by different sources telling me how much more dangerous the worlds become. I tend to reply to this by stating B.S.. As an example of how the world still looks out for idiots (the oblivious) I generally use the example of the person walking down a street. These days there wearing dark glasses and ear buds installed, there heads pointed to the ground as there entire focus is on the phone 18 inch's beyond there nose. There is no creature in the known universe that can go thru life completely oblivious to it's surroundings with all it's sensory features blocked and survive. And yet these people flourish. Foot traffic parts around them like a rock in a stream and like a rock these individuals are completely unaware of themselves. Granted every once and a while one gets smucked when they step out in front of a bus but not near enough.

California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
Round here, a very large number of drivers are extremely self-centered, have an overly inflated sense of self-importance, are true believers in me-firstism, either ignore red lights completely or race and cut through traffic only to be the first in line at the next red light, rely on other drivers to anticipate their next turn or lane change, and are generally rude and obnoxious.

I'm sorry to say that "Round Here" now equates to the entire known world.

How many times have you been in a carry-out style restaurant where there is a giant illuminated menu board above the cashier's head. You're standing in line behind some self-absorbed, self-important idiot for 3-5 minutes. They get to the register and look up for the first time and spend another 3 minutes contemplating what they want? This is despite the fact that they had ample time to have reached that decision long before it was their turn to order. They go through life as if they are the only people on the planet.
That same person entered the parking lot of that restaurant by turning the front of their car into the lot and stopping with the back half of their car hanging out in traffic while they waited to select one of the 97 empty parking spaces in the lot.

The old farmer's joke about turn signals,'everybody knows I live there and have to turn left'.
