Morning guys. Most thankful for all this help and suggestions!!
Ill ck to see if I have that issue.
I size to 356, bullets drop about that and after PC are about 358/9 very little resistance sizing 98% of bullets drop flush into die VERY few drop proud and some drop below flush. I try to cull those that drop in too far. (For fear if Undersize of not completely filled out)

100% on work up!!! I started 3.4 of 231 stopped @ 4.0 (max listed in a few manuals.) My concerns are as this is such a low pressure caliber Ill not see pressure signs until Im well past design parameters. (16-18-K) But Im also sure the gun is safe past that as there are +P loding that just say modern firearms in good working order.

Im not looking to set records, but at the same time with this loading I do want all thats available. This LEE 95g is as close to a WFN as Ive seen in the caliber.

CW,

I forgot to ask you, what do you size your 95 grain tumble lube bullets to?

The reason I ask is that I have always sized them to .358 for my LCP and LCP II and they have fed 100%. That is with both Hi-Tek coated and Ben's Liquid Lube bullets.

My wife's uncle has a Glock 42, and he had feeding and chambering issues with the loads with the bullets sized .358. I have a .356 sizing die, but my 380's and 9mm's all feed correctly with the bullets sized to .358 so I have never used it. Is your Glock finicky about bullet sizing?
I tried some this AM @ .357 & 358.
.357 fits fine the .358 kinda does. So as reliability is of importance. Ill try the .357 dia. I am always a fan of fat cast bullets.

CW,

Thanks for the reply. I think I gave him 250 rounds loaded with Rainier copper plated bullets last time for his G42, so he is probably still good.

My LCP's eat the .358's cast bullets just fine.

And I believe the youtube link problem is youtube itself. It has implemented some controls that prevent some videos from playing on remote websites in the last month or two. Always something.

Those proved quite brittle... Disintegrating in my dry magazine.

So guys suggested I add copper and Babbit might be a source. I have mo clue whats in this babbit and as most should know babbit is made with any number if additives. So I added 1/2# to about 4-5# of the last hard alloy.
Looking back at my first alloy before adding MONO alloy was NOT as hard as I expected it to be. Its about 10bhn after a few days of casting.
Then I added MONO type and quenched it. These where 14 out if the pot a d now 24hr later its 18.5/19 BHN. Those came apart. Now, here is the latest alloy W/Babbit its 15BHN out of the pot. We will see 24 hours and see the difference quench & Babbit makes.

But in the dry papers, it lost its nose but kept its base.

I shoot into sand, recover all my alloy. Even my hollow points don't break up. Air cooled WW alloy (my approximate) or my alternate of three parts pure to one part lino, holds together.

RANGE DAY TODAY!!

Put over two hundred down its pipe today. A box of Silvertips, couple mags of Fiocchi 90g and a few Fed HST 99& 102g ALL 100%.Velocities on factory carry was a bit lower then I hoped. But my Woods load absolutely ELATED ME!! I was smacking and moving steel it really shouldn't have!! Heavy, 1/2" 6" dueling tree. I couldnt flop them, but I gave them quits a stomping!! NONE of my factory loads could visually move the plates!!!!
My shield 45 230/HST's @ 900 rocked them with authority. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!!

Shot about a hundred more rounds threw this lil booger today!
I have a very impressive load worked up with 231 thats averaged over 1025 fps three times now. This is excessively impressive knowing it acheived with less than .005 case head expansion and a 2.7" barrel. I have dropped that charge .5 and enjoy a 950 fps average with lower es numbers.

Shot allot today @ 21' for accuracy. They trigger is good for what it is its inconstant. I need to look into this probably rough surfaces or a few burrs.

I noticed some consistent skuff marks on the brass. I found a rought ejection port edge and two very sharp corners in the slide. I polished a d stoned the areas and altho I still see the spots, they are FAR less damaging to the brass.

I bought something I never thought Id own.... a LEE bulge buster! :(
As I was building loads, I started 3.5g working up .2 10s over. As the pressures here are so low normal "watches" dont occur. So I looked at case heads and @ 4.0g I re sized and cases slid right into a case gauge. But @ 4.1 it needed persuasion and @ 4.2 even a SB 223 die wouldn't allow them to slide in that gauge freely. PLUS the fact that this is a small light pistol and Id rather not wear a part of the slide... So just as book says 4.0 is a max and for safetys sake only small diet if those will see use. 3.9 will be my load.

The BB is just easier then using a Small Base sizer as its not made for such a case shape. (But works wonderfully. Unlike the 9mm, The 380 case could, conceivably be cut from a 223 case.)

Good work CW! I always blew off the .380 in particular and the pocket auto in general in favor of a compact .38 revolver, but like Allen and others you prove once again that there's something to both that is useful.

As to your video links, something went wacko with the mobile device editing capability here two days ago (at least regarding my Android fone thingy). All the editing icons at the top of the composition window are greyed-out and unavailable. That may have something to do with it. Thanks for frequently posting links to your channel, that helps as long as the vids aren't listed as private with access only through a direct link. I have mine set that way, my channel shows no videos but they're there if you click the links I posted in threads here.

Thank you!
Only a few are private on my channel. 99% public and viewable. ;)
Its a appealing lil bugger. If it just shot a lil higher it might be optimal!! ;)

It has very nice sites. Stole them from the S&W Body guard. But regulation isnt on with this one. Up close its fine for defensive, just plaster the front dot over the target. Out @ 25 yards I can run a 6" plate rack BUT I holt top to just off top of the plate.

That is good work.

The 380 Auto, or 9mm Kurz, is one of those cartridges that gets abused in the U.S. due to factory loading below its potential. When loaded as it was intended, it is a far more capable cartridge then it gets credit for.

I would guess that at 1025 fps and a 95 grain bullet, you are pushing the max for that cartridge and pistol. Of course, in a self-defense situation where someone intends to do you great harm, that’s the time to push the limits. The locked breach design of that pistol is a plus when pushing the upper limits of pressure. Those velocities out of a 2.7” barrel are not to be laughed at. That’s a lot of speed for that cartridge and barrel length.

Your decision to drop your practice load down to 950 fps is a wise one. I think that little pistol is perfectly capable of consistently running at the max level but there’s no need to do so all the time.

I’ve probably burnt more WW231 powder than all my other powders put together. It has always impressed me as being a very useful handgun powder.

I picked up three boxes of Lehigh Defense bullets last week. Two Controlled Fracturing and one Maximum Defense bullets.
The CF are 75g and the MD 65g

I started with there data and Tite Group as I had best luck with it with the ARC Bullets @ 65g. I achieved 1150 with those. Data was factory supplied and mirrored 90g data.

I fired four working up to there 3.2max. Seems fine cases do not eject near as forcefully as my Woods Load and wet magazine recovered bullets @ 3.0 shed only one pedal and @ 3.2 shed two pedals BUT both where pretty well Plugged with paper. This is a "harsh" medium so Im suprized pedals remained attached.

Tommieboy suggests I try Power Pistol. I have it and like it so that is next.
I have t worked with the Defenders yet.

Condor-Safe for California, too. What's not to like? (J/K) You can still defend yourself with lead or lead-core bullets here, but Lehigh Defense seems to be reading ahead to some future time. Who can know what delusions will possess legislatures to come?
