Here is an " Oldie "......IDEAL 311316

I bought the mould and handles for $45 shipped.
The mould arrived this morning.

I figure about $20 for the handles and $25 for the mould shipped free.
I thought that was a pretty good deal.

I wanted a light weight, high velocity bullet to experiment with in my 30-30 ( and other .30 cal. rifles ).
The mould cast at a nice round .313" with my clip on WW alloy.
The bullets jump out of the mould, no tap, tap, tap on the handles on this one. Hard to beat those old IDEALS !
Sizes well to .311".
I think it would also serve well in my T/C Contender , 32 H&R Mag.
It should be a real lead saver.

I have a 2 cav of that mould. I wish it was .313. Mine is just too small for my 32-20. Never tried it in the 32 H&R.

Should be good in the 30-30 too.

I should have this one at the range in a few days if this blasted rain will slow down here.

THE bullet for the 32-20 IMO. Works well in most smaller 30 cals. Not sure how it'd do in something like a 300 H+H, but it's the cats for stopping charging tin cans or perforating porkies eating your Sugar trees with your 30-30 or 308. Excellent on coyotes too. It's performance outweighs the cost of the GC IMO.

I used this bullet 40 years ago to remove big turtles from farm ponds.
The bullet was super accurate out of a SAKO, 30-06.
Seems like ( ? ? ? ? ? ) my load was 8.3 grs. of WW 231 with a large pistol primer. Worked splendidly.

No doubt.
I make my own .014" aluminum , 30 cal. gas checks with a FC III gas check maker , so the gas check is a no expense item for me.

My grandson is going through 30-30 ammo right now like water running through screen wire.

This 311316 will be a good one for his youth model Handi, 30-30.

Yes Glen, I've always believed I'd enjoy the BH in .30 carbine.

It's an interesting gun Ben. To me, it makes no sense with factory, or milsurp, ammo. But with cast bullets, especially cast HPs, it's a whole 'nother ballgame! I honed the throats on mine out to .310" (groove diameter is supposed to be .308", but I don't know for sure). I shoot the 3113136 and HP sized .310" with enough 2400, AA #9 or H110 to give 1500-1600 fps (AA #9 is my favorite). This makes a very flat shooting varmint gun, with explosive results on the other end. Just make sure to wear your hearing protection because it's LOUD!

It is loud. Not as bad as my 10" Khornet Contender. A 35 vmax and a case full of 1680 has to be seen, and heard, to believe. Never saw a fireball that big.

You have to hear the centerfire 22's or 25's out of a revolver to believe just how loud they are. The 32's are bad, but the sole 22 Hornet round I heard go off still has my ears ringing.

Beautiful little slug. That one and the 311419 are my favorites for a Savage 23 in 32-20. A1680 and a small rifle primer. Interestingly, I have a Sako Finnbear in 30-06, I'll have to try your load Ben.

I've shot thousands of rounds with that load.
Killed many big turtles out of farm pounds around here.

Ben,
The same here rain o ff and on all day or heat index above 110! Not good shooting weather. I did install a ceiling fan over my bench but it does not help with the rain much! Whether it’s sweat or rain running on the corner of my eyes it makes shooting difficult.

Mornings are cooler but more humid. Afternoons are less humid but much hotter.
Sweat is a fact of life at the range in summer.
If I could stand it I could pick up at least 50 pounds of range scrape each trip but the hot, humid weather always beats me.
