Rebuilding a retaining wall. Old wall is down, blocks stacked for reuse. Removed 10-12 wheelbarrows of hard packed clay soil. Lots of roots to cut as well.
I am beat and sore. Tomorrow won’t be a fun day.

The 10 day Car Week is in full swing, the locals are pretty much homebound through Monday morning, and the cops are working overtime and probably issuing plenty of speeding and showing-off tickets (when I was a teen-age driver cops wrote it up as an exhibition of speed.)

We live about five-miles from the track, as the seagull flies, but the sound of older Ferrari V-12 and Cosworth DFV Formula 1 engines waft by and conjure up memories of two Long Beach F1 races, between '76 and whatever year it was that Clay Regazzoni crashed at the end of the long Shoreline Straight and became wheelchair bound, plus the inaugural F-5000 race.

Seems to me it hasn't been all that long since you built a retaining wall.

Are you talking about Laguna Seca or another track?

And I HOPE Brad is rebuilding a different retaining wall. IIRC the other one was at KHornet's house.

Dang, been on a pretty durn strict heart healthy diet for a year.

Yesterday, wifey went to pickup Gdaughter for the yearly late summer week with us...... somewhere in the meetup process she takes them all out to a restaurant. I call it "truck food",it's when a big truck backs up to their loading dock and offloads bags of frozen pre made dishes.

Then, the funny part is folks yapping about how this restaurant is soooo much better than "that" place...... "why? because the truck stopped there first?"

So,for the first time in a year,I ate some "truck food" chicken. She brought home a 1/2 dz leftover pcs. I ate'm, they sorta sucked.....sorta OK,because of the fat popping off some brain synapses but other than that, not a whole lot of flavor? Now I got the blankety blank runs. Drank a cup of coffee late yesterday evening, which acted as an accelerant, haha.

Be careful what you eat,it's probably the cause of a lot of little health issues..... and larger ones as well. What we "got away with" eating when younger isn't the same now.... the "stuff" in processed foods has only been in full effect on baby boomers. It'll hit our kids even harder I'm predicting...... hey, that's $$$ right there. I need a new rifle, can someone help write a "grant"?

This is kinda funny but, reckon it could be of some actual use from a "discovery" standpoint?

Yesterday morning over breakfast I'm telling the wife some stupid old saw about locking her and the dog in the trunk..... which of y'all be be happy to see me? She was WTF?

OK,obviously she'd never seen those old,why a dog is better than a girlfriend list of funnys. I "quickly"(remember this) Googled it up and heck, images popped up a dz or more easy to read, chart style list of reasons. She thought some were funny, others she didn't get.

We drank some more coffee and I get the idea, maybe let's find....why a dog is better than a boyfriend.

I swear,it took PAGES......and multiple clicks, all leading to dead ends. The reason was...... each and every one was a somewhat indepth, soul searching, psycho babbling BS "paper" trying to define your(a woman) emotional state? After about the 3rd page,I FINALLY find the list format of funnys. Now the best part...... all they did was change the girlfriend part to boyfriend. And half of the list didn't make any sense.... and not because I didn't "get it". It was just a pathetic RIP off of the former. Now some were funny, toilet seatly speaking.

It was very interesting test in anycase.

This is a wall on th corner of my house that we did maybe 5-6 years ago. I wasn’t happy with where it ended up and how the water flowed. Since we are getting new siding this is the perfect time to move it.
Holy crap am I sore.

You need to do more manual labor.............at 68, yesterday, I moved a pallet of top soil (60, forty pound bags) and filled low spots in the food plot. Feel no worse than the day before.

Went to school for a lot of year to avoid too much manual labor.
Worst is my hands. They aren’t used to a shovel and the palms are a bit swollen.

I think I need to start a physical training program for shooting BPCR prone. Friday, I went to a simple fun shoot with a few good friends. We shot 100, 200, 300, and 640 yards with our Sharps rifles and black powder. They were all 45-70s. I was the only one who shot prone and we were taking turns shooting the same swinger so I was in position a long time. That was Friday, I still hurt. My right elbow is rug burned from laying on a horse blanket and the recoil scraping it. My collar bone feels like it is bruised and I was wearing a pad. The bottom of my left ribs feel bruised and my neck needs a trip to the chiropractor. My ammo was from 2008 and shot exactly to my notes from back then. I only had notes to 450 yards but extrapolation worked perfectly and I was on at 640 with my second round. Staring with a 100 yard zero add 7 minutes for each 50 yards. I was pleasantly surprised at how well I can still see to shoot with my Hoke rear tang sight and a cross wire front aperture. Now if only I didn't feel like I was squoze through a knot hole.

I moved three pickup loads of topsoil about 3 years ago to fill in the subsidance in the front around the foundation.
Had help from a strong young man who was going into the Marines in a couple months running the wheel barrow,
but I shoveled every bit of that from the truck to the wheelbarrow, and spread it all. A good workout, but I don't
want to do that for a living, that's for sure.
I't amazing how little a PU bed full up to 8" short of the top is when it is spread on the ground.

Yep, Laguna Seca.

Evidently, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Lotus use the same misdirectional navigation system, because a bunch of them passed by the house, yesterday.

We were at Laguna with the Cayman last Sept for Rennsport, going to Britain in a few weeks for Goodwood Revival, and some
track driving, plus several days in Portsmouth looking at naval museums and museum ship, and some more in London. Haven't
spent any time in Portsmouth area (well, THEIR Portsmouth) so it will all be new. The Goodwood Revival has a LOT of really neat
old race cars, should be a hoot. Lots of great Youtube coverage, some amazing old cars.

oh boy.
check the pump first, they are usually easy to get to at the left front corner.
cheap enough to replace too.
other than that or a clogged hose I just replace the whole thing.

Bill isn't good wood in early October?
I understand they are gonna let Dario Franchitti drive a couple of cars this year.
