Much needed range time

I had the day off, my wife was available to go, and the forecast was for sun and 75+ degrees. No way was I not going to the range!
I wanted to run some loads over the chronograph, see how the red dot I put on the 686 for my wife does outdoors, and just blow off some steam.
Took the 686, my GP100 in 357, the Win 92 in 357, the CZ 75B in 9mm, and the 1911. We did not shoot all 400 rounds I took but did get done what we needed and wanted to do.

The GP100 was a little faster with the 160 wfn over 7.2 gr of Unique in mag brass. Average was 1191 to 1147. The Win 92 with 24” barrel got 1426 with the same load. The 686 gave some cratered primers and stiff extraction.

The 92 Win doesn’t always feed the best from the magazine with that bullet. I think it is more a design issue than an OAL issue. The MP 360460 is the same OAL but feeds dummy rounds better. Need to load some and see how it works at the range. Might need to get some input from fiver on that too, he seems to know the 92s pretty well.

The CZ did well with the new 120L from Accurate. Over 5 gr of Power Pistol it averaged 1117 FPS, plenty for me. Had a couple issues with feeding but not a big deal. Might need to see if a slight change in OAL helps. Maybe seat .020 deeper?

The target of the day was aluminum cans. The 92 Win is pretty tough on them.

How did the red dot do for your wife? I really like the ones I have on some of my Ruger Blackhawks. Reflex on a 7.5" 357 maximum and one I mounted on my 480 but have not tried it out yet. All my other dot's are tube.

I really like the reflex type red dot. She is getting used to it. I think she shoots far better with it than she does irons. She needs readers so that doesn’t really amaze me any.

She does OK with the 92 Win as well. Other than the feeding issues she really likes it. Her words, not mine.

She is no Trevor but she does have fun.

I have to use my readers if I'm shooting irons. Red dot's I can do better without. Glad you both got to get out and do a little shooting therapy! My wife is hooked on my 32 mag single six bisley.

Those little 32 H&R Rugers shoot way better than I expected when I got mine. I shoot mine with a 100 gr swc and 2.5 gr of HP 38. Like a laser.
