Spring cleaning, stuff you can have (for the postage!)

Bill, I don't think any of the plastic items are big enough for a hammer head, I just threw them in to fill up some space. There may be some stuff in package that just isn't useful, feel free to do with it what you want.

I have some larger pieces of Delrin, phenolic, and nylon as well as various pieces of tool steel that I've squirreled away for our own use. But if you had a specific project in mind I'm sure you could talk me into parting with some of it, especially if you promise to post your project here for everyone to enjoy.

Keith,
Thanks, I'll keep you generous offer in mind. I wasn't thinking so much as
a whole hammer head, as a striking end insert on a metal hammer head. Sometimes in
gun and other work I need to persuade a part a bit, but not damage it. A plastic, and
replaceable strike face seems like a good idea for a small project.

I'll see what is in the 'Happy Box' when it gets here.

Gary, not too late for a box but it will be a couple of days before I can get it together. I just came back from PO, must be getting old and feeble, it was all I could do to handle four 30 lb boxes. I've got some orders to pack and ship and a bunch of other things to finish today. After that I'll see what happens.

"All I could do to handle four 30 lb boxes......."

Hmm. Even when I was young, 120 lbs was a LOT to move around. If it was me, it would
be at least two trips, maybe four.

No problem carrying them across the shop and into the truck. I rolled them into the PO on a two wheeler. Getting them up to counter height was the problem. Even one at a time, with my balance issues from having a "bionic" leg, it was hard work to squat down, grab the boxes properly to keep from hurting my back, and then stand up. But you know what? The fact that I CAN do these things tickles the snot out of me.

No worries, mate, all is well.

Glad you are able to do it, Keith.

I have a failing knee, and just discovered a couple of days ago when we had some nice weather
that I can no longer ride a bike until I get a new knee. That was a bit of a surprise. I have been
bicycling for exercise since I was a kid, did it all summer for many decades, including last summer.
No more with the way this knee has deteriorated. Fine for walking, but will not bend enough
anymore to ride a bike.

Well darn - preserving the machinery as best we can. :)

Great Keith; let me know how much I owe and PLEASE, there's no rush.

Gary, the postage for a medium flat rate box is $12.85. That's all I charge. I include a generic invoice with instructions on how to pay. I accept personal checks, money orders and PayPal. Do not pay me until you get a package.

Bill, I know several folks who have had successful knee replacement surgery. All are happy they have had it, even though they all commented on the rather painful nature of starting physical therapy. I'm sure you will do fine when you opt to do it.

Bill, ask John (Winelover) about the knee's. He enjoyed having it done so much he went back and had the other one done. :)

Keith,

Got the Care Package....only us old guys will even know what that means, I guess.
Really wonderful stuff for a hobbyist! Kinda like a miniChristmas.:):)

As to the knee, thanks both for the reinforcement. It has been running along about the same for about 10
years, far longer than I thought it would go. But, in the last few months it has become noticeably worse.
Going on a trip overseas this summer, will hold off that long, but I am starting to think that it won't be
too long after that that I will have to decide to "get 'er done". Fortunately, this is the result of a long ago
motorcycle accident, and the other knee was not injured and works like new, amazingly enough. I tend to
doubt it will need to be replaced, or if it does, it should be pretty far down the road.

The check will be in the mail Monday.

Thanks again!

Glad it got there Bill. I tried to pack things as well as I could and even marked the boxes as HEAVY to hopefully clue in the PO workers to be careful but apparently Ian's box got destroyed along the way. He did get the goods, repackaged. I was hoping the aluminum plates would reinforce the bottom but a corner collision could certainly crack a box despite using tons of tape.

I do understand reference to Care package. No hurry on check.

You guys got a sampling of the residues of the material we normally use to make our products, most of which is produced on a repetitive but not necessarily regular basis. If there is anything in particular you could use another piece of let me know. Right now I'm accumulating stuff for Gary, but I'll be glad to put aside stuff for anybody else. And my earlier offer still holds - if there is something you want to make and need material I'll be glad to try and help you out, especially if you publish your project here for everybody to enjoy.

Got a spare mill you can send?

I have some ideas for the bar stock Al but need to figure out exactly how to do what I need.
Pretty sure that with some work I can face the stock and square the ends with my 4 jaw and a sharp HSS cutter

Thanks, Keith! The PO is always very hard on packages that come this way, I figured it was like that everywhere. Anyway, all's well that ends well and I found several sets of aluminum rifle bedding pillars in-the-rough and a host of other goodies that will get put to good use!
