1911 22lr conversions

Just picked up an older Kimber "platinum" conversion kit for my 1911. Easy install, but have to get some rounds thru. It also comes with 1 mag... i understand that these are essentially copied from Ciener.

What can i use for some extra mags? Looking to use for plinking, bullseye practice, and just fun.

No 1911's here. However, I do have the Ciener Browning HP conversion that I ordered in the 70s with extra magazine. Well made but I hardly use it anymore. I purchased/ordered it when living in Detroit's Wayne County when pistol permits were like pulling hens teeth. Here, I don't need to pull permits or go though a background check with an Arkansas CC permit. Twenty twos are so inexpensive. I just rather have a dedicated one or four!

Oh that sounds intriguing. I really like the feeling of a High Power in my hand. I'll have to look to see if those are still available. The 70's are starting to feel like a long time ago though.
 
When I put mine together none of the cheaper mags functioned properly. I had a few Colt Mags even they gave me issues. If it was a plinker Id of been fine with them.

I found cast magazines made in West Germany for Sig GS1911. These are fine magazines.

Picked up a 70's era Colt conversion from a pawn shop back in the early 90's. It was just a bunch of parts with no box so it didn't look complete and I got it for a great price. I picked up a bushing for it and had it fitted to a Safari Arms .45 ACP. Great shooter and lots of fun as long as you keep the floating chamber clean and functioning.

They were actually made by Ciener and take their proprietary magazines. I never did find any other magazines to work with the Ciener conversion.
Kimber later started making their own units. Brownells had magazines for the 2nd iteration.
