Both Solo Twins, if that means anything to you!
Whoa!!! Means something to me. I've got an Echo twin. Not a lot of either floating around.

You were on The Site Which Shall Not Be Named But That Is Famous For Banning All The Good Members, right?

I wanted to also try out Simple Lube. I made a 4x batch of it. It just melts down to what looks like water. It's super Simple to make. It's considerably harder/stiffer than Ben's Red Lube.

Here's my 4x recipe.

16 oz Beeswax
5 1/3 tbsp Vasoline
2 2/3 tbsp 2-Stroke Oil
2 2/3 tbsp ATF
1/2 tsp Lanolin

That pic of the ingredients in the pot pre-melt looks EXACTLY like something we were given for chow at Parris Island! Pretty sure it's still in my gut someplace....

It still looks like fudge, cherry cordial flavor? After all it is Christmas time, you could cut up the first batch into 1" cubes, put on plates with cookies and pass out to people you don't like.

Years ago in my early casting days I once made up a batch of lube consisting of beewax and Penzoil moly axle grease. Tried doing it in double boiler set up. The wax melted fine, the grease just floated around. Ended up putting it directly on the burner. Thinking back, not sure what was going happen first, the axle grease melting or the beeswax catching fire. The concoction worked fine, but sticky was an understatement.

if you gonna put grease in a lube it's just as easy to not melt the wax then cut the grease in while the wax is just soft like peanut butter.

if you try putting a moly in and don't do that, you end up with wax and oil mixed together and a nice layer of black moly on the bottom of the pan.

oh.
Simple lube is supposed to be green, it gets it's color from the non synthetic 2 stroke oil.
purple works too,,, if the 2 stroke is non synth though.

The grease was already had moly in it, came that way from Penzoil. We are talking early 80's.

The simple lube is good stuff. I use the double boiler metod for melting the beeswax and just mix all the rest in. I quadrupled the recipe and it worked fine.

Yes, I know this is an old thread, but here we are...
My first attempt at Ben's Red.... we had a small fondue style crock pot that we never use, so I commandeered it... 8 oz of beezwax pellets (white), and I used "F" type AT fluid, since that's all I had on hand. STP and Lucas Red stuff... first pic is just as all the ingredients blended, and the second was right after pouring it into a foil pan...
At least it's red... We'll see how it works after I get it out and cut into pieces.

When it has solidified for 2 days or so, cut into 1.5 " wide strips
and store it in a zip loc bag.

Get yourself an old coffee pot at the thrift store.
Put 2 strips into the old coffee pot.
Melt and pour into your lube sizer.

I may well do just that.... I think I might try a few wadcutters, pan lubed with it first. Lots of possibilities. .... plus I'm not sure how long it would take me to clean the alox out of my lube sizer.... o_O

It won't be the end of the world if a little mixes.
:D Yeah, I imagine that's the best way to "worry" about it. It will eventually all work its way out... I just don't have all that many bullets ready for sizing.. time to get casting... the weather has cooled down enough so that I can do that without feeling like I've been sitting in a dry sauna... I've got a few molds I really need to try out...
