Why not neck down the 25 acp to hold a 22 lr bullet? Good practice for becoming a watch repairman.

Was sitting in the hunters area in the Ancerage airport to head out to the
Alutions when Askins came in from a flight. A grouchy old SOB who was
giving what for to some Fish and Game agent who was giving it right back.
It was interesting.

There is a guy that necked the 25ACP to 22 in a single shot rifle, I can’t remember the name of the cartridge but a bottle neck case that small is a real pain, the straight wall ones are trying too!

I figured somebody must have! Both are ancient cartridges.

I think the 32 necked down was pretty popular in some circles for a bit.

airc the Velodog cases all got bught up by one guy that started using it for bulls-eye competition.
he didn't want any of his competitors gaining the same advantage.
if I remember the story right a trip to Mexico was involved to buy out the entire inventory.

I forget which of the well know gun writers said it, but his opinion of Askins Jr was not very flattering. No one doubted his skill and ability and his talent, but he was not someone you'd want to be around much according to that other guy. Probably about like today, a lot of well known people are really bums once you get behind the facade.
Pretty sure it was Massed Ayood who referred to Askins as a murderous psychopath, probably in an American Handgunner article. Askins sure did love killing people. I remember reading a pistol review he did in one of the gun rags late where he stated he hoped somebody would try to steal his wife's car so he could try it out.

well guys am not really the prepper type but think the reloading thing just might work with the right Boolit... the ones in that kit just ugh...

But am into air power...ya know a pcp like Lewis and Clark carried ( a Girandoni ) but more modern now... they could do well for Preppers...

Have 4 right now two .25 Benjamin Marauders, a Benji Maximus .22 and a .177 BSA Buccaneer... all are .5 at 50 yards... If I am on my game with their favorite pellets...

I have a few used .22 Lr barrels(Marlin mod 60, Beretta Hakim, Remmy 514, Shultz and Larson M33/60) and a unfired Marlin 883n .22 WMR barrel
that I will be using when I get them machined the breech...

Point is if you have the reloading kit here is a much better round than the ones in the kit... just might get better results.... Like I said it will be for air power for me... it is in last call status at this time...

It is about perfect for the Marlin .22 WMR barrel should swage out to the .2235 groove if it drops as drawn... it should size down well for the rest...maybe even will size down enough for some of the larger .219 groove pellet barrels...

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.

I wouldn't believe a single word Ayoob said myself. My interaction with him was not real positive. Beyond that, no it wasn't him, although he may have said it to someone else or in print somewhere. I got it from the writer himself many years back when the internet was brand new.
