243 winchester ladder test

Conditions were a little too windy for a 200 yard test of the 260, so I decided to do a quick and dirty test on the 243 @ 50 yards. I only shot 3 five shot groups with 2400 and the RCBS 95 grain slug. Group 1 was 13 grains and produced a .826" CTC group, group 2 was 14 grains and yielded a .389" CTC, finally group 3 was 15 grains for a .908" CYC. Federal brass, WW LPP firearm is a Kimber Montana. Time to reload and move to 100 yards.PA060399.JPG

Well, they be nice and roundish in that two-grain window so that's a good start.

12.0-14.0 grains was the sweet spot with two different 243s I've had using both RCBS 6mm--95-SP and Lyman #245496(?) (the Loverin design). Not uber-fast velocities but both knocked the stuffing out of jacks and rats to 150 yards+.
