Does anyone use it? I am shooting some .311 cast 180gr bullets in a sporter 03A3.

Reason for asking is I have no 2400 and have not seen it available in the 3 local shops for many, many months. But, I have a full can of Winchester 296.

i have done it, it worked, i moved on right quick.

you know the reputation the powder has, so a jammed bullet fit would be the way to go about it.
19grs. will be a decent start point.

Midsouth has 1 and 4 pound cans of Enforcer for sale right now. I haven’t used it but my understanding is that it is nearly as flexible as 2400.

The original RCBS cast bullet manual listed some rifle loads with 296 and it was shown in some CBA matches back in the day but I have not seen it used in a long time. I heard something about safety issues. Might want to do more research.

Given the small particle size and high percentage of deterrent coating in proportion to the base grain, 296 and similar H110 would not lend themselves to tolerating free airspace in the case. I would expect poor ballistic uniformity and erratic ignition.

Fast-burning pistol powders which do not have a heavy deterrent coating, such as TiteGroup, 231, WST, 452AA perform well in light small game and gallery loads below 1300 fps. I find that 8.5 grains of WST in the .30-'06 with the Accurate 31-160H very accurate and the mild load does not require using a GC. It shoots to point of aim at 100 yards using 500-yard sight dope for military 152-grain Ball M2 in the 03A3 Springfield.

I saw some Enforcer at a gun show this weekend, wish I had known it was like 2400, I'd have probably bought it.

fiver...I most certainly read your posts as I have followed your advice and have 6 pounds of 2400 and 2 of enforcer. But I haven't got round to loading any enforcer yet. This forum is full of knowledgeable shooters and I am a sponge at collecting that knowledge. So keep it coming.
