Sweet! Out of sheer curiosity, and because I'd buy one in a heartbeat if I ever found one, how is the Savage 24 accuracy-wise?

I love my Sav 24 30wcf/20ga. It's very accurate. It's that one rifle that I would keep if I were commanded to sell all my rifles. I could use just this combo for the rest of my life in michigan.

My Sav 24 in 223/20ga is even more accurate. :)

If ya Think about it, what could make for a stiffer barrel then to attach a 20g tube to it!!

Im a big Savage 24 Fan. Before my trading boating accident. I had quite a number ofthem. My biggest complaint was regulation. It was seldom good. One 22/410 was stellar. Perfect and soldered bbls. This 30/30/20 was pretty good and useable. But 222/20 was aweful. 223/20 pitiful. 22M/20 shameful and 357/20 was honestly FEET to one side with a Slug. :(

I have 3 24's

I will admit to not having regulated my 223/20ga. I have not even tested it. But it's use as a scatter gun is for varmint hunting under 25 yards if I happen to call in a yote that comes close. I cannot even get many yotes to come in 100 yards away, so there's that :)

My 22LR/20ga. I "regulated it, in a completely bubba method, but also reversible. I played around with brass shims of varying thickness. I cut shims and placed them between the barrel and the end barrel band on various sides until I was able to get a slug's POI 1" away from my 22LR POI at 35 yards. As for birdshot, I can shoot trap all day with it if they go straight out from me. The problem is that training myself to be able to bust clays completely destroyed any fledgling standard shotgunning skill that I had. So bad, that I cannot hit more than 8 out of 20 with my winchester 12.

I guess I'm saying that it comes down to how the sights work on a regular shotgun vs a combo. Kind of like how they say your baseball swing ruins your golf swing.

my 24 30wcf/20ga I only have made sure bird shot is decent. Since I have the 30wcf on top, I didn't find a reason to mess with slugs.
