DRAT YOU, JOSHUA.

You should know that you are in a den of mid-caliber nutbars when posting to this group. We need INFO--firearm(s) description(s), load data, ballistics details........SPILL. I have 30 Mauser die set at the ready.

Well basically you take a 38 spc and ram it in 30 mauser dies, no lube needed. Mine is a H&R 12 Ga that got a 30 cal green mtn blank. I have shot the 90 gr SWC with 2 gr of bullseye up to a 147 gr cast with 12 gr of h-110 @ 1700 fps. 4.5 gr of unique will net 1200 fps with same bullet, and reamers can be had from manson.

Thanks, Josh. I read the thread over at Cast Boolits dealing with the caliber/question. Something like this 30 Badger could finally prompt purchase of a T/C Contender. I have resisted its siren song for 30+ years, but I sense a weakening oncoming. I like Badger Edd's focus on a thrifty, easily-made wildcat useful for varmints and small game.

Good morning
That is an interesting looking caliber 30. Sure would be a fun way to use up the pile of 38 special brass that accumulates.
That would be a fine Contender barrel !

Mike, iff'n you do this, sort out and save those .38wc cases. Treat 'em like gold. Unlike the old days you just don't find them that often. I have about 1500 in my stash...sorted out by make....for my standard boring vanilla load of Lyman 358495 141 gr wc over 3.0 of BE.

Thanx Ric.....will confess to hot rodding it in my GP100 4" to levels only revealed under deposition to the grand jury. But as an all around in my little Smith 642, it seems to shoot eons better than yours truly.

But I have bought grab bags filled with scrounged range brass at gun shows to acquire maybe 7 or 8 per 100. For my tastes, it just loads so much better with that cantalure (sp?) in the right place.
