30 Super Carry

Several variables arrived on scene at roughly the same time--piezo-quartz electronic transducers replaced copper and lead crusher interpretation; general ownership of chrongraphs (the polygraph of ballistics) expanded greatly, coupled with a reloading and casting renaissance brought about by cyclic ammo/firearm/components shortages. This occurred c. 1985-1995, and remains in place today.

Nothing has been the same since this occurred. We now know for a fact that ammomakers have lied to us for decades about product performance. Since they have proven themselves to be consummate BSers, perhaps we should not accept at face value their whining and moaning about supply stream issues for ammo or components.

That The Makers wish to add another caliber to the mix seems strangely timed, given that ammo and components have been very scarce for close to two years. These companies move in mysterious ways.
THIS ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^!!!!!!!

well they are certainly coordinated.
there's already 2 pistols slated for release, ain't nobody buying a gun they can't get ammo for.
so there's gonna be boxes on the shelf soon, those same guns are chambered in other rounds, but are they gonna have cases of stuff available too?
Kinda makes sense, doesn't it? I mean, you can't get ammo for 9mm or 380's, much less 38's or 357s', or 45's that people already own. But BAZINGA!!! They've got a gazillion rounds for this new gun that costs twice what it should that you can buy.

I suppose I'm just not the trusting sort.

There's an interesting discussion that helps explain the current situation here: https://www.zerohedge.com/political/what-great-ammunition-shortage-says-about-inflation It might be worth following up on the links from there as well.

Basically, it sounds like the ammo industry has decided to managed demand (e.g. the Tyson example discussed in the first link) to sustain profits--according to the story, almost all of the price increases are profit--and avoid the boom-and-bust cycle we're all familiar with. Folks expecting an eventual return to "normal" may have a long wait. . . .

The new robber barons. Calling Teddy Roosevelt . . .

Certainly makes me view the situation through a different set of bifocals.

Yeah, bit good old TR already had his money he got from his daddy the small time Robber Baron. That always makes things simpler for SJ warriors.
I will admit to not knowing what Teddy's father did to get his money.
What are SJ warriors?

Thank you, Rick.

Me, a social justice warrior? That's today's laugh. I meant that Vista's monopoly, and apparent market manipulation and price fixing needs busting.

Full agreement, Michael. That is why I have STRIDENTLY argued against paying ridiculous prices for components & ammo during the several shortage cycles we have experienced over the past three decades. If consumers hold the line, sooner or later these latter-day hyper-Menscheviks get the message and moderate their pricing.

OD on just about all of the straight-wall revolver and pistol cartridge cases runs .335"-.337". That might do for 338 Win Mag. I haven't seen SAAMI data for the 30 SC yet, so FWIW.

Social Justice. Not you , TR, our first Progressive Prez. I was just trying to be non-political while still pointing out a lot of the famous SJW's already have their wealth to fall back on while they chastise others for trying to get some $$$.

I think Bret was referring to TR as a SJW. I think Bret is right. Teddy got to go run around out west and play cowboy, them got into politics. He couldn't have done that as a real work a day laborer or rancher.

I'm not doubting he wasn't monied, still he saw the wrongs of monopolies and those who controlled them. I certainly wouldn't compare him to the likes of modern day social justice warriors, George Soros and Antifa.

TR took the Federal gov't into areas it had never ventured before in the belief that those of great means had the ability, and intellect, to fix all the problems of the little people. If only it were that simple! Wilson thought the same, but from a different angle. While there is a great deal to admire about TR, there's also some things that are glossed over and outright ignored. On the whole, I think he was one of the better guys to hold the office...but! As with Lincoln, or Washington for that matter, you have to take the good with the bad. His younger cousin took things to a whole different level after Mr Hoover vacated the WH.

Nope, not like our modern little marxist wannbes wearing their Che shirts and talking about the evils of capitalism while drinking a latte from Starbucks, wearing their name brand clothing made in a sweat shop in the far east and texting on their $1500.00 Iphones Mom bought them last month...
