Remembering... 1680 and CFE BLK 4227, H110/296, N110 for sure. Probably 300mp and N120 too... Need to check notes.

feeding was fine!!

They also stabilized just fine. Just couldn’t get 2” @ 50 with subs and only a tiny better with supers. (My own criteria)
I tired straight Lino and my reg mixes as well as soft.
IMHO it’s a bullet design that dovetail and quite possible bad bullets on my part. I had a heck of a time with that mold. I’ll bet I didn’t get 50/50 good/ cull!! I do t know if it was t vented right?? I tried bitter lead cooler lead. Splashing off sides direct poor or pressure poor... None seems really better that other.

MUCH better results with 150-165g bullets.

I shot some today.
A random 180 cast I had had to be seated deeper than I wanted. It’s “group” was more of a pattern...

Winchester 200g subs shot about 3” @ 50.
Hormady 190 Subs where just over 1” @ 50
110 Supers with three diff powders ALL had touching groups @ 50.
My cast spritzers with 10.5 1680 shot about 2”. My cast random 180’s and 1680 where closer to 6”.
Jacketed 220 RN and 185Spitzers with super sonic 1680 loads both shot exceptionally well almost all touching.
So about same as my other BO’s. Subs simply don’t shoot near as well as supers.
The Hornady and Winchester’s where shot over Chrony and BOTH when supersonic but EITHER had that solid crack?? The Winchester’s when 1150 and Hornadys just over 1100.

Having fun with this MSR. I ordered and received some rings last night.

I’m in process of switching a few rifles over to a Leupold Dual Dovetail scope Mount system.

it’s rock solid and near bomb proof. Coupled with a dab of RTV in ring bottoms will remove all doubt about mounting system movement!

this is on my RUGER American 300 BO.As this riflehas likly seen its last deerseason I removed the 2x7 Leupold too. I replaced it with that Redfield 6x I bought for the BEE last month. I was a bit worried about looks as it’s a long scope on a short rifle. But the new bases have a reversible front so ring spacing is greatly improved. (As will be support)The final
Looks are pleasing. I used ultra low rings and the scope now sits even lower than the Leupold did not quite 1/16” gap at objective bell. Bolt clearance is a non issue these days with these tri lug rifles.
This gun is just a joy to shoot. Powderpuff recoil and the ability to stuff bullets on top of one another. I’ve shot too many sub 1” and sometimes touching 200 yard groups it’s silly. A gun that makes a grown man giggle with every shot, is a good one or sure!

Clearing off the side of the bench revealed a few treasures I had forgotten about. Namely two hundred Hornady 135g FTX bullets!! I haven’t tried them yet!!
my last tests in the 300 where with the Speer 150 Gold Dots when they shot very well in my Grendel. I had high hopes for the BO. I was not disappointed with 1900+ velocities and sub MOA groups with 300MP & N120 powders. Never got tot he FTX 135’s. That’s what I’m gonna work on now in the RARR and this 6x Redfield.

Speer 150 Gold Dots - funny results for me. The BO version - don't expand when hitting fiber backer @ 1800 fps. Not as accurate as hornady 150 SPPs. Softer jacket appears to be the problem.

Loaded up a NOE RD 165 HP bullet. On top
Of 15g 3031.
HANDS DOWN BEST CAST BULLET LOAD THIS CALIBER!!!

ten shots 50 yards 1/2” group in three holes. One ragged hole and one bullet 1/4” left and another single bullet 1/4-5/16 high... That coulda just been me.
CRAZY ACCURATE. TOO RAINY FOR CHRONO. But advertised as 1300. Struck about 4.5” low.

One powder I haven't tried - 3031. Good shooting, I like my 170 & 185gr GC in the BO but yes they go slow. Basically a slick sided copy of the RD style. Does well in 30/30 also. I did load some 30/30 185GC BLL with 2400, should try 3031 there too. Did find if I bell the mouth more I don't get shaving with the BLL coated. IMHO the GC opens the mouth that then snaps back a tad and scrapes. Like enough bell you feel and almost see it. M die isn't enough. Not a problem with the BO cases, just the 30/30.

Off top of my head... 296/1680/4227 I gave up on that one last year haven’t looked to it in a long time. It’s a lost cause. Hard to get good bullets cast and very poor preformance.

I sized it from straight Lino .308 or various hardnesses and 311.

I pulled this one out to try again..

It’s dropping 174.5 g this alloy and I water dropped them to gain just a bit as it was a hand gun alloy.

I cast up just shy of 200 pcs and powder coated with a electric Emerald. I like to call leprechaun pills.

I’ll load up a few and try them this weekend. Gonna forgo the gas checks and see what I get.

Most of the shank will be in the powder space. Try pistol powder yet? I used cfe pistol 5gr and get just a pop for sound so sub. Won't cycle AR. 231 or unique should give decent sub results.
8.5 gr A2400 gives me 1" wide and vert stringing @ 50 (probably me) under 145 & 170 PB cast.

Boat tails, basically. Hopefully you finally found a use for that rather poor design, watching with interest.
