You might have to wait a bit to get an answer. He hasn’t been around for well over a year.

Start around 15gr with 4227 and work up. 15.8gr H110 chrono'd 1920fps from my 16" with the bullet crimped into the first driving band. MP300 will work and takes a little more powder than H110. Honestly, I think 4227 and H110/296 to be the ideal powders for that bullet.
Are you powder coating your bullets? If I powder coat then rounds won’t chamber????

@Outpost75 would have some insight on the LEE bullet specifically. I don't know if I have it bookmarked or not (have to look), but I remember a post or article he wrote about two of them, one of which (both?) I think he designed?

My best friend's boy has the 300 BLK I was shooting several years ago, but I have a young friend who just got a SBR'd AR and a can, so I will be dredging 300 BLK files once again. I don't think he understands that I am hinting at not just hand-loading for it, but casting for it also. It'll be a long wait, but once my can gets here and he shoots it with cast bullets (and suffers the monetary pain of buying factory for ten months), he'll be a believer. I won't waste my breath trying to convince him with words. He'll SEE it and thus BELIEVE it.

I have VERY little imr4227 but I do have cfe blk, lil gun and accurate 1680.

I think it best to powder coat bullets for rifle use but the Lee 155g and the Lee 160g will not chamber in my Anderson Mfg AR. It hits the rifeling before it’s fully seated in the chamber. “Just” fits if only alox coated.

Suggestions?

Get a different 160g mold?

Thanks
Francis

This one is fun in AR pistol - load 950 to 1400 with 2400. Just HiTek coated some and 185gr GC I'll try without the GC.

H110/WW296 are exactly the same powder and have been for a number of years. Same with H414/WW760, and others.

MP-300 is super close to 110 too Lil'Gun is a different animal.

Francis.
NOE makes a nose size [bushing type] die you might be interested in, depending on what equipment you got.

You mean a sizing die?

I load 300BO on a Lee turret press

no it actually sizes just the nose of a bore riding bullet.
push it in at 301 and it comes out at 300, or 299, or?

the body size [H&I] die is just for the drive bands.

that lee 230 shoots fine for me too, at real super sub speeds it's awesome out to 50yds.
i ain't messed with it at 100 because i'm pretty sure it just falls to the ground at 60 or 65yds.
maybe i should speed it up a little and see if i can't get it to drop to the ground at 102yds?
Surprisingly a 25 yd 0 is good at 50 and is dead on at 100 in my little fun gun. The 230s are cruising along about 1050 for me with H110 pushing them. Groups about 3-4 inch at 100 with the red dot. Not a super precise optic.

I loaded up 100 Saturday with LEE 230 (I modified removing boat tail) on top of 10.5 & 12g of aa1680.

I met a buddy. We each brought 3 300 BO forearms. We covered 8.5-16" M&R & Bolt guns. One pistol was not reliably with 10.5 but good W/12g other four cycled & Locked both loads. Worst accuracy was 5" @ 50 rest hovered around 1-1.5".

HUGE change for me as this bullet as LEE made it tumbled in all my guns horribly. Now, after removing boat tail, never.

Too cold for chrony and no silencers. Just fun shoot and break in/first shots from a AR Pistol.

i'm running 3.5grs. of powder in a 7 twist bolt gun.
just switching from a rifle primer to a pistol primer starts making widely oblong holes about 2"s apart.
that's a long way from putting 50 into an inch size hole with the outliers being called.

i haven't run it through the chrono, at least i don't remember doing it.
i'm probably a hair higher than that, but it does seem to be pretty 45 acp-ish.
