:headscratch: Till it doesn't.............that's why factory 357 125HP record more one shot stops, in the real world, than 45 ACP!

John needs new (real) factory data. Have never heard of or seen any factory ammo doing testing on one stop kills. Diehard 9mm fans believe such things so they feel better about a lack of momentum.

You brought up 9mm not me. I cited 357 Magnum. But yes properly loaded, like the Europeans do, it approaches 357 Magnum velocity.

The formula for energy is mass times velocity squared. Which translates into layman terms that increase in velocity has the edge over mass. That's why modern day centerfires drop more animals on the spot than the lumbering BP guns of the olden days.

You can believe whatever makes you warm and fuzzy.

YEE-HAH........We got us a real, live Caliber War starting up! Always such fun.

In exchanges of finality, I want as much diameter, as much projectile weight, and as much velocity as my war toy at the time can muster. I WANT IT ALL, AND I WANT IT NOW--REPEATEDLY. Something belt-fed wouldn't hurt my feelings at all, and I can make my 686 or 625 sound belt-fed most capably. Stopping of armed goblins is not a light-tackle enterprise.

Not exactly . . . Velocity squared means it takes 4 times the velocity increase to increase to equal the weight increase. Enough velocity and you would be correct however I surely do want to see you get 3,000 fps+ out of any of your 9's.

:headscratch:How do you figure? You made the statement that bigger diameter bullets yield more knock down/momentum............ yet you choose the smaller diameter bullet to to knock down the 200 meter Rams. Can't have it both ways.

Well I’ve been high velocity bug in the past, but never BP route. I’m thinking the middle ground is a good one.
I don’t knock down rams and if I’m confronted with a social problem it will be close to fairly close. With that in mind I’ll take reasonable slow comfortable and big. But I carry 38 calibers for size portability and power, and I think they are big enough.
But there’s a tool for every occasion.
The 45 AR or ACP revolver is flat fun, pleasant to shoot and accurate.

There was a lot published by a couple of wags that was nothing more than self-serving excrement. They were widely published, widely quoted and pretty much debunked. What they published was statistically erroneous if not fraudulently manufactured.

According to data from police shootings. Published in the 70's/80's.

Hopefully not Marshall and Sanow. As stated above, a bunch of nonsense. It could have been a good study but they neglected to use data that disproved their point of view.
