OK, got to visit the range, and I tried my new form 1 suppressor today :)

308 Savage rifle (1-10), 18" long barrel, using my own handloads and my own 180gr cast bullets.

- Supersonic handloads - no suppressor

- Supersonic handloads - with suppressor

- Subsonic handloads - no suppressor

- Subsonic handloads - with suppressor

One of the shooters on my right shooting factory 6.5 creedmore came and asked what I was shooting, since he said it was very quiet :)

Very nice. I bet you were grinning ear to ear the whole time!

Powder-coated 230-grain Lee bullets with 6.4 grains of Titegroup and a large rifle primer will be more quiet than the striker on your Savage. I also really like the ability to shoot full-power factory ammo or handloads with either jax or cast and have a report that sounds like a high-velocity .22 rimfire from a 20"+ barrel. When hunting with full power stuff you can take a shot and have full use if your hearing immediately, which is invaluable in close brush as you can hear which way the animal went if it runs. You can also hear the bullet impact quite clearly.

Thanks Ian :)

I have to admit I have not tried yet the Lee 230gr's yet. I have read so many posts from many different people have never been able to get any accuracy from these, and often key-holing due to the "boat-tail", but I have seen people that still press-in a 30 cal gas check into the powder coated slugs and get better results, plus others that "square" the base to eliminate the boat-tail, so definitely something to try one of these days (I would need to of course first buy the mold first!).

I am almost out of these 180gr cast pills I am using (these were the ones I used above for subsonics):
TL310-178-RF-AO5 4 cavity GC (RD)

So I will be casting soon again and "will" be trying powder coating once again, as well as the 165gr:
310-165-FN-H3 2 cavity 1GC 1PB (30XCB)

and for reference, these were the bullets I used for the supersonic test above, but I still have over a hundred of these left:
311-122-FN-J4 4 cavity GC
