Finally got to shoot some, bll with 15 rx7. Changed the profile a tad from the 142C PB and dropped the groove. Did pretty good for first time out. Scope set for 150 GD @ 100, this is 50. Should be > 1900 fps. Did pretty good with the PB 170 in 30/30 with 9 gr. unique too. Both are 50/50 AC. alloy.

Oops. no, GCd. Using a soft alloy (50/50 AC) vs the COWW heat treated. First try for fit (ok) will up the fps when it cools enough to cast some more. BLL as it's too humid for PC and too lazy to get the sprayer out. Shot these 4x from lancer mag but had a couple almost cycle - up the charge. And I can use up some Rx7! Then switch to H110! actually got 2 boxes hornady GC for xmas so the PB will sit on the shelf for a while.

I have also given up getting the powder to stick, these days.
Note to self
1) cast a bunch of bullets in the summer, when there is no snow
2) coat a bunch of bullets in the winter, when the powder will stick
:)

I don't understand the humidity problems, I really don't. I coat in my super-humid, super-hot shop that holds moisture like a sauna, using the shake/bake airsoft BB method and plastic food storage containers with silicone seals and snap-flap lids and it doesn't matter what the weather is, it works.

After about 20 batches I pour the BBs out and dump the teaspoon or so of powder and bullet dust out because the bullet dust accumulates and inhibits the static cling. After that I put the BBs back in, spoonfull of fresh powder, bunch of bullets, and get busy again.

Last try was with smoke's black and washed asbbs. Probably not the best combo. Noticed a lot of asbbs are smaller in dia. Having trouble getting this mould to fill noses without wrinkles. I shot another group before the posted one, 6 in tight and 5 flyers - me or nose wrinkles? Anyway going to be gutsy and cast again tonite with the fan on. Normally try for morning range day but only time I could visit Mom so had the range to myself this afternoon. Never know when we'll get a cooler day. So far, 2 coats BLL works fine.
edit: Smoked the mould a couple times and wrinkles went away, yea. Never had to do that before. Dropping right at 139.7 to 140.1 without GC. Now to add my sprue cutter mod.

I am not having any problems in the middle of corn fields where I am coating them at. Ever sat in a corn field? The humidity will be near 100%. I'm not even using any plastic BB's. Just a plastic pickle jar from Aldi's. Heck I only shake for about 15 sec and that is more than enough.

I've tried fresh powder, BB's and container. Maybe I just have to try another powder, sounds like that might be the problem

Cast a Lee dripper full this morning, first glance, none bad from the start. Tried the pencil trick on the sprue plate - works great - no adding lube for the entire cast. Sprue cutter tool worked great too. Just a dowel stick as a lever. Melted the lead out of my 'thumper', too heavy for the shoulder. Back to the leather mallet. Now to dry off & cool down before I GC them and PC (red). I'll dump the black & ASBBs and try again.

Next try. 90Fsomething and IMHO 80% humidity. Anyway, same 50/50 GC - 15 vs 16 Rx7, BLL vs PC (Smokes red) and a couple 15 H110 (PC). PC'd alloy may not have stabilized same as BLL. 15/BLL same as before, PC not too bad. 16gr opened up. Dirty barrel from last week. Don't remember what the middle target was on first pic. Thought it might be my shooting but 2nd pic low left is PB & a 125SST loaded a while back, last shots. Next try is 15.5 Rx7 plus some WD. This is a grooveless mould, PC might be filling the space in front of GC, making a difference?

That 15 Rx7/bll- group sure looks good! Since you are obviously within the pressure tolerance of tumble lubed bullets, perhaps your PC bullets will benefit from spicing up the load a little bit?

Pretty much decided PC had not stabilized -target holes definitly larger than BLL. Got some BLL'd ready for next test, 15.5, 16, 16.5 & 15, 15.5 H10. Also H.T.d some for hot loads with H110. Goal is SOFT coated at HV (23-2400?).

Kinda down today but shot several loads today, not one hole shots but as good as 150 gold dots. Later.

Not the best shooting but Rx7 did well with the AC GCd. W296 wasn't as good, even H.T.d These were all sized 308, a tad small. Shot a couple 150 GD, 19gr. cfeblk - POI and group about the same. Chatted with Bro yesterday morning while visiting mom, she was comatose and passed yesterday afternoon - bout a month short of 100.

Sorry for your loss, my condolances. When important people in our lives pass away they leave a vacuum, no matter how old they were- or if their passing was expected or not.

Good group, though!

Sorry to hear about your Mom, Popper.
Sounds like she went easily, which is all any of us can ask for and is a blessing.
When my Dad passed, remember he was no longer in pain, gave me a lot of peace.

Tried the megnetospeed on these, not much result on GC cast.
Heat treated 1 % (not too much effect IMHO) with BLL. Should be running >2K . Frustration set in so not that great, first 4 were good (centered) but never got a good reading. Previously optical chrony same load PB. I like this mould! The one by 16 was PC stragler, unknown load. Got good readings on the BO GDs, 1836. only 400fps above expansion limit - got to push them harder for any at distance.
