The truly cool thing about the 45/70, 38/55, and 348 Winchester are that they become quite docile with castings run in the 1200-1400 FPS ZIP Code while still delivering pretty good WHOMP to the targeted quarry. Little recoil, no gas checks, not much fuss & bother at all. 100 rounds of that sort are fun and accurate.

Amen Al. Mild cast loads under 1500 fps make most rifles pleasant to shoot. Works great for kids and old guys that don't need to prove they have a surplus of testosterone flowing through their veins.
