Good to know that was the problem! Didn't affect mine......... shoots super but does prefer the bigger heavier bullets

re-barrel for a 358 win.
JES was having some issues with his 358 win re-boring not too long ago, and you might be getting one of the few problem barrels he had.

the 35 rem is a pretty easy conversion for a short action rifle, the rim isn't all that different, the body diameter is close to the 308 family, and the case length is long enough to feed without any difficulty.

another option is to look for a 358 win chambered Ruger Hawkeye, your not gonna go wrong with one of them and I bet you can get one for 500$ or less right now.
in about 20 years they will be pricey little rifles.

Fiver if you run across one for $500 let me know I quit bidding on the last 2 I seen on gunbroker at $650. I have wanted one for a while. The stainless synthetic one that is.
The Ruger 358 Winchester’s that are on there now were a special run with a nice stock and blue finish. They are a good looking rifle but just not my style.

I'm surprised they are more than new already.
makes me almost wish I had snagged that Hawkeye in 257 Bob I passed up for the Win Featherweight.
I know I wouldn't be too willing to sell the 358 Hawkeye I have.

Went to a show yesterday . High Powers have and asking price over $1200 and the Hungry clones are asking over 500 ..........I don't think there was a lot of selling but those were the askings .
I can't tell you what the mine cost but it was less than the typical custom Mauser .
We didn't see over 30-40 rifles of any sort under $500 asking , he did buy the $300 110L Savage 243 with the cut checkering .

I just did the savage barrel swap myself.
22-250,308,358 Is what I have now.

I snagged a set of dies for my long action project. Now to get a barrel.
