357SIG carbine...Giving up for now

Been wanting to build one of these for three years now.
Buddy and I got together and with his abilities we struck a deal. I buy 2 9mm bbls, he rents reamer and chambers both bbls and we both have a barrel.

That was three + years back.

This week I decided Is just pay to have one chambered.
I called four diff smiths and spoke with three. (One hasnt replied as yet.)
But last one was referal from one of otgers and that was thearguy. Apparently he SPECIALIZES in 357 Sig uppers. But his are DI not blow back as he has learned 357 Blow Backs balance a fine line and most often result in the need for ultra heavy bolts/ buffer systems and probability of low case life and blown cases. In short, he wont do them any more and advises against me doing it.
SO.... Im stuck with two brand new Ballistic Products 16" barrels and a nearly complete upper assembly.
I am not a 9mm guy.... BUT I have a few 9mm magazines and everything to have a upper sans a bolt....

So today Primary arms has 129$ and they have agreed to send me a BCG. ;) :p

Well it IS A 35 cal, and I AM A 35 cal fan!

I didnt order any buffers my PCC is a 40 so Ill try it with what I have but know light loads may not reliably function.
Tommie's heavy 9mm thread made me think. I have a nice Lyman 147g as well as a 130 TC Mold. (Used in my 38 Super)

man.
you know SIG makes a ready made 9mm carbine.
why they don't make a 10mm [that I know of anyway] is beyond me.

Not legal for me. :headbang:

I have a PCC in .40 & 10. The 40 is Glock mag and easily converted to 9mm.

Have you talked to the guy on ar15.com that makes the DI 45acp ar15's? I know he is working on a 9mm DI for awhile. Getting the gas port hole in the right place is the main problem.

RWS or Macon? There's been a big feud between them for years. RWS did the DI-45 first and laid all the groundwork, Rudy just copied it more or less, made it more available to consumers, and solved the age-old magazine problems a couple or three different ways. Last I heard RWS had determined the 9mm DI was pretty much hopeless, but that was years ago. Seems to me that putting an ultralight BCG and spring, together with tungsten sliding weight or a steel shot weight to cam the bolt home should work. Lighter magazine springs and blocks to lower the capacity a few rounds may also be necessary too in order to reduce drag on the feed lips.

Most knowledgeable guy I spoke with was thearguy.com. He makes a DI upper in 357 sig.

He laid everything out for me. So if I need to have Ill buy one of his uppers.

I think the house across the road from Lamar will probably come up for sale again after this winter. It even has a seasonal pool. Pretty sure Idaho doesn't care if you have a 10mm.
heck there's a couple up the street for sale now.
the one around the corner has a good sized backyard with some big tree's across the back of it.
[I can easily see it across the pasture from my yard]
no problems owning a 10mm here, heck the governor would probably recommend an AR style rifle since that's what he uses for deer hunting.
your brass scrounging days will be over though, there just ain't much left on the ground by shooters around here.

My Primary Arms BCG showed up today.

I still waiting on a taper crimp die so I can set up loading on one D550.

Totally spaced on a charging handle too.

I dug a lil deeper and found a couple in one of my parts boxes!
Cast up some 130g tc bullets to shoot too!

What buffers do you have? Need at least a 5.4oz. A h3 is a 5.4 and it still has the weights inside to stop bolt bounce. I think the solid buffers i have are contributing to the problem i am having.

I shot this today!! Just function/zero. Power Pistol and the Lyman 130 TC bullets sized .357. Just over a start load. Fifteen in three mags all but second mag last bullet feed & fired perfectly! Last fumbled chambering but pulling the bolt and releasing allowed chamber & fire fine.

This PCC Ill use upper on was made/built for the 40S&W. It has a very heavy bolt and a even heavier buffer!! I was actually suprised it functioned right off like it did!
The BCG is a Faxon and pretty heavy itself. Both these bolts have pinned rear sections making them removeable/changeable weight. IIRC my buffer was 8oz!??? But Id have to check. Again built for a more powerful 40.
