Herco is USEFUL STUFF. Between the mid-level magnum revolver duties, 1-1/4 oz 12 gauge loads, and 28 gauge shotshell loads, an 8# caddy doesn't last long if I'm able to do much shooting.

When I got low on Unique and couldn't find any, I tried some HS-6 and fell in love. I can use it in any of my handguns and its just as accurate as with Unique. What I've found is adding one more grain or grain and a half and its the same results as Unique. It meters great and is cleaner to boot . Its the only powder I use in the Flat-top 44s and still one hole accuracy If I do my part LOL !

When I was growing up Herco was our go to powder for Duck & Goose loads. It was fall back for .357Mag &.44Mag loads. Haven't bought a can in 30yrs.

A bit off subject but, I walked into the Cabelas store in the center part of our state Friday and ask for some Unique powder, the kid said we don't have any but we do have Hodgdon powder, I said forget the powder do you have small pistol primers. Kid said sure and there were some small plastic parts trays with primers by the hundred. I said that 100 wouldn't last all day and needed some boxes of 1000. Left store with a bottle of water and a bad attitude. Cabelas in our state has pretty much turned into a glorified clothing store. Last time we stopped at the Sidney store my wife bought $100+ worth of clothing and I bought a bottle of diet soda. Whining over!

We hit Cabelas yesterday. I am not paying $44/K for primers! Powder in 1 pound bottles only and expensive at that.
If it wasn’t for a good gun selection I wouldn’t be back.

Rex, you need to come to Omaha with some $ and hit Guns Unlimited. Good prices o powder and primers. Their powder selection is damn good as well.

I don’t think I have used Herco since I last loaded shots held over 25 years ago!! No real reason I know it works for Pistol too.

That's pitiful.

It's not a big deal, I had a Cabela gift card which I will use up on something else. We have a small shop in town that carries primers by the thousand and Alliant powder and I don't mind spending a bit more there to help keep our shop here. Just disappointed in the other folks.
