43-287 Resurrection

I was getting 3-4" at 75, with the same excuses of rusty shooter, trigger control (mainly twitching nerves after the first cylinder) from revolver that can and will do 2" at 100 in the right hands. Haven't recovered any but I know where they are in the berm.

Gman, those bullets look exactly like they are supposed to look after being fired, according to the plan, and they seem to shoot pretty well for you, too. So my conclusion is it'a a good bullet and like Fiver said Brad's revolver simply sucks even though it was grouping under 6" at a hundred. He must have one heck of a tight barrel, and some seriously crooked chambers or timing problems.

I don't think it is timing per se but cylinder/barrel misalignment.
Think back to what Jim always said, a revolver needs a little play to be accurate.
I will be ordering a couple new cylinder stops. I want to see which direction I need more rotation to let the cylinder throat align better with the bore. I can then thin the cylinder stop a bit on one side to allow some play. As the bullet enters the barrel e cylinder can rotate with it rather than force the bullet to change direction.
I truly believe I have more of an alignment issue than anything else.
I cast some bullets yesterday and can easily heat treat at 425 to see what that gets me.

Send it to Dan and have him wring it out for you, Brad. That man can do research like nobody else I've ever seen.

He does do some interesting stuff. I'm not prepared to powder coat like he is at this point.
I really think I have more of a gun issue than a bullet issue.
One thing Gman did that I haven't tried is heat treating. That will happen soon.

Check out the ibok guide. You might be able center /adjust all facets of the guns fittment.

I did it to the gp100 & plan to on the srh. Just thinking with some feeler gauges & the proper shim washer thicknesses you might not need spare parts fitted. Check it out & apply it to yours.
