Ha, that's an awful big expensive brass trimmer. I bet it does work wonderful though.

I wonder if you could temporarily shim the cylinder where ya want it. Often I will use leather or something to make temporary overtravel stops ect to see if it helps before doing something permanent. Seems like a tiny glued metal sliver of proper thickness might let you test a theory without modding any actual parts.

Waiting on some drier weather down south myself. Only thing I’ve shot lately is my 32 Bisley. Got a taller front sight and now shoots where I’m looking.

look at the bases, your not engraving the rifling even close to straight.
on one side they look pretty good, on the other you can't even tell you have gas checks.
the difference in the engraving on the crimp groove and the nose shows the same thing.

you goin in there all kinds of crooked.
Yep.

I've learned some things about revolvers since the last time I posted here. One of the things I've learned is that if a revolver has decent dimensions, decent barrel / cylinder alignment, and a good cone, then it's not fussy about BHN.

Or as Ian put it:
What I don't get is how I can shoot plain-based 16:1 SWCs in a .44 revolver within a half grain of max load of 2400 and have none of the issues you've been having with your Ruger.

I have no more suggestions for Brad other than, if he gets really desperate, is ready to throw in the towel, and feels there is nothing to lose, consider a Taylor throat.

Dan, I have been following your work on your site. Barreling the revolver with offset in the tenon was a neat trick.

A Taylor throat is soemthing I have considered. I just hate to make a non reversible alteration unless I have to.

Right.

From a practical point of view, the sensible thing would be to trade in your lemon for something else, rather than continue sinking time and money into a lemon. I speak as someone who has sunk a lot of time and money into lemons over the years. :p
