45 ACP in Ruger BH

I've a old model convertible Blackhawk 7.5" that really shots 45 Colt very well. Creeker prompted me to try the 45 ACP with one of his posts/video. Having the Accurate 45-200E 200 gr TC which has proven to be good from my 1911's, this week I put the unused 45 ACP cylinder in the BH and gave them a try. Shooting was at 7 yards, mainly because I can't keep a sight picture for a second and can't see sights & target much past that. Anyway, it worked great and is easy to shoot with 4.5 gr of WST. This was the best target:

Real nice shooting!

Yep! I want one. I’ve already got sixty tacos in that can!

I've had the money since February, just waiting on Ruger, or a consignment gun to show up.

I have had nothing but good luck with 45 ACP in SA revolvers. One would think the long free flight down the cylinder throats would be an accuracy problem, but it isn't.

I have 2 old Vaquero's, the .45ACP cylinder from my BH convertible fit both and indexes perfectly. The left hand revolver shoots more accurately with the ACP, the right hand more accurately with it's .45Colt cylinder.

I have a US Firearms Target model that I always thought a 45 ACP cyl would be awesome for...

Brad ran that one into the ground. No idea his thinking... But its a beautiful gun.

Nice shootin there Tex!!

Took my NMBH FT Conv with the 45 ACP cylinder to the range yesterday. I have some off brand 230 RN cast I got cheap/loaded with 4.5 gr BE. The 1917 loves them, the 2x 1911s hate them! Go figure. But found out the BH also loves them! one ragged hole for 9 rds (I pulled one) at 7 yds. For giggles I shot it at 25 yds OH. My eyes suck, etc. But was shooting about minute of big grapefruit. I was happy with that. Glad the two revolvers like the RN, as I bought 1500 of them!

My Ruger .45 BHK Convertible shoots every different cast bullet type that I have ever tried in it pleasingly accurately. I particularity enjoy shooting the Lyman 452389 and the Lee 230 RN-TL. However it also does well with a Lee 205 Lee SWC-TL and the Lyman 452460. I can use almost any fast powder and they will shoot accurately. Even tried some 454190's with the same good results.

I had a Lipsey Ruger BH convertible (45acp/45colt). My daughter got it, she prefers shooting 45colt. Thinking out loud here ...maybe I should "step-up" some 45acp ammo for her to try?

My New Model Blackhawk Flattop likes the Lee 230 TC over Universal in the ACP cylinder. Probably gets used more than the 255RF out of the Colt.

Any 225-230 over 5grs of Clays shoots well in My NMBH & both Old & New Vaq's. That load shoots well in anything.
Same bullet over 4.0grs Clays shoots well in .45ACP.
The Lee #45-230-TC or Saeco 225gr WC #453.
Shot a 225gr TC in My Cowboy Shooting Days. One old Vaquero would group under 2" at 25yrds.
My 40yr+ BH 4 5/8" will put 6 #452424 over 6.5grs of Unique into an 1 1/2" group.

OK, I happened once. But that counts.

I see where Lee got their inspiration for the 230 grain TC 45 ACP bullet design. This one includes a crimp groove.

Back when I still had my part time retirement gig for "mad money" I sent my FA Model 97 .45 Colt back to Wyoming for a .45 acp cylinder. I had coffee cans full of nickel Federal brass from my first LEO job. I don't remember when the .45 Colt cylinder has been back in that 97.
I shoot Magma's copy of the H&G 68 in 200 grains over 5 grains of Bullseye. And the 454424 over 6.0 grains of Unique for a thumper.

Cherokee the more I shoot that bullet the more I like it. And like Mr. Graff it's hard to believe the long jump seems not to bother the accuracy.
