man sears had ted Williams everything.
golf clubs, baseball mitts, guns, ammo, tennis rackets.
you name it, if it was in sporting goods it said Ted Williams on it, and most all of it was good quality stuff.
my 22 rifle isn't a ted Williams but it say's sears model 2000 right on it, and it'll shoot, I had it out again tonight ground squirrel hunting.

I guess. Closer to 50 than 40 but, okay. Lol:p

Dangit, why you gotta put it that way? I freaked myself out the other day thinking 15 years ago I was 30, seems like yesterday.....and in another 15 I'll be 60 and my oldest kid will be able to vote. That's not very far from now. I think I'll just think about right now for now.

My daughter, the youngest, just turned 26. I’ll just let that sit there. Keep in mind I’m only 45.

My baby is 31 this month and I'm only 53 . His older brother is 35 and not yet a Sargent in the Army and I have a 16 yo granddaughter . Just in case this is a race . Fortunately the 16 yo is a step though it's possible I'm just as glad the next in line is "only" 13 .

In spite of my own dumbness I wouldn't trade a minute .

I think this thread has drifted, and I am going with the flow....
My oldest is 51 and a lawyer(a girl) and my son is 50 and a general contractor in marine construction. I have 8 grandchildren, 23 to 15.

Not being a sports "nut" I'd think it might be weird.. Seek help.
He said something about finding a rifle with a famous baseball players name on it . I envisioned a Savage 325 with Babe Ruth on it knowing full well they meant a Ted Williams . Hence "The Babe" .

Don't care about sports , don't get to make a joke to often here .

Babe was known to hunt from time to time.
I remember telling of a certain duck hunting Lodge where he gave the owners enough signed stuff they could have retired on it.
they thought nothing of it, him being a good friend, but their kids and grand kids sure caught onto that fact pretty quickly.

If you didn't know who the "Babe" was, and a friend wanted to show you some of their collection, and handed you a rifle and said "this is my "babe". I'd keep an eye on that person.
I got ya, I know what you mean, I was just poking back.
I'd sure grab a Savage 325 or 340 bolt gun even if it had Ted Turner's name on it if the price was right. Not many in Alaska.

My Ranch Dog mold showed up on Thursday. Turns out that the advertisement was incorrect. The seller had it listed as a PB mold. Nope, it’s a gas check mold. No problem, I’m still happy with the purchase!

Tonight I processed a bunch of culls and range scrap into muffin ingots. But, before I poured the ingots I ladle cast a bunch of bullets with this new to me mold.

There is no step on this mold; the nose smoothly transitions into the front driving band.

This bullet mics out at:
.3137” (rear driving band)
.3131” (front driving band)
.3051 (measured .375” down from the meplat)
.3000” (measured .310” down from the meplat)

Here are some pictures.

I just reread this entire thread. It would appear that I have the earlier version of the Lee/Ranch Dog TLC311-165-RF that was later renamed the “170“.

I will make up a dummy tomorrow to see how deep I will need to seat this bullet to make it fit in my M1917’s 30-06 throat.
