Nose is .300".

Should keep my grandson Trevor busy.

I " think " it is an old Lee group buy mould.
I have no proof of that.

I was at first thinking NOE, but then I seen the bolt for the sprue stop.
if it is a LEE custom shop job I'd bet it's 15+ years old.
but I know they were also doing group buy's for 2-3 different groups around that time, so who it was for?
and the sprue plate?

It is indeed a Lee "group buy" mould from the Boolits site and is at least 10 yrs. old, if not 15. I purchased one years ago and am quite happy with it even though it casts~10gr. less than the advertised [weight].

Trapper, I typically use that CB in my .30-06 either "as cast" (.314") or reformed in a bump die made by Ed Wosika (of the Hanned Line). The bumped version is more accurate, btw. In either instance I use 8.7gr. Unique or 9.5gr. B. Dot when I can get it thrown via a Lyman pistol powder measure (the one with interchangeable brass rotors), I'm guessing the velocity is ~1,200fps. Lastly, I usually tumble lube them as well and use essentially WW's +1% tin, but I'm not fanatical about alloying. If there's an archive on this site, there should be a thread or two with pics of my targets shot with that CB.

Thanks, I have an Arsenal 312-145 "elvis" 5 cavity on the way. but I like the looks and weight of this mold. I also have a 4 cav Accurate 313-150T that looks like this one with flat nose. A good bullet in 7.62x39

I shoot them in my Ruger stainless steel # 1, 30-30 Win.
BHN about 9.5
I shoot them 1,100 - 1,200 fps.

Ok I have a Marlin 30-30. Also 30-06 Rem 7600 and a Mossburg bolt in a 308 win. Think of use the heavy PB in them . That is why I ask about it use of PB.

your gonna get a lot of shooting in with a plain base bullet, your just not gonna get a lot of speed out of them.
nothing wrong with either one, holes are holes, rabbits are rabbits,, etc.
