700X looking for a load

I was gifted 3# of 700X and it is looking for a home in some cartridges.

Leaning towards 6 gr under a 250 swc in 45 Colt. Maybe 4.8 gr in 44 special with a 250 swc.

I have lots of powder for 45 ACP so I am looking to not use it there.

Any other suggestions?

use it everywhere you would use red-dot or bulls-eye or 231, or,,
heck I use it in my 300 blackout, it works fine in the 9mm, the 44 special would be a good place to use it too.
it meters just like red-dot so if you got a dump that runs that or bulls-eye well that's the one to use.

It is t the easiest powder to find data for in many cartridges. Looks to be very close to Titegroup.

it is close to titegroup too, it has a bit more nitrous than red-dot [well about the same now that they keep adding it to red-dot to clean it up] but less than bulls-eye.
it's a pretty good slow speed cast rifle powder like titegroup.

I’ll pile on with using 700x like you would Bullseye/ Red Dot / Bullseye / 231-HP 38.

It’s seems cleaner than most in 9mm.

It's real good in cast rifle loads too. My Lyman manual from the 70s has data for it in just about anything. I have used it in .45 Colt and .44 Special like you have described.

Oh, by the way, it's great in 1 1/8 ounce 12 gauge trap loads too.

Except maybe for Unique, it's about the most versatile powder out there. Dad gave me about 3/4ths of an eight pound jug of it three or four years ago, I have maybe a pound left. Nine grains works great in my .38-55 target loads, but it works great in a whole lot of things.

At large, whereabouts unknown.
I haven't used 700x for ages, but went through several lbs of it in 38 Spl in the past, as well as 45 acp. The powder I really miss is 800x, that was difficult to meter, but the power and accuracy were always good.

I am sitting on years worth of Titegroup, Red Dot, and 700X. That doesn’t take into account Unique or HP38.
