7mm

I have a thing with them . okay ?
Among other things I have that don't really work for the new 22" 7×57 barrel at hand and my intentions are an under sized 7mm-168 RCBS , a 287-150 (Hunter ) , 284-130 and a Cramer B4 . I'm sure they will shoot fine along with the 27 cal 130s papered up . I want to use all of the twist an most of the case while being able to juice it up or slow it down . For the off season obviously I'd want to shoot a heavy sub ......in perspective a big fat wadcutteresk bullet from in the neighborhood of 210 gr is probably plenty for whitetail or 175# pigs .

I tinkered with the Mt Molds bullet design thingy and got out to a 210 gr bore ride Secant and was still over 10.5 minimum twist for 1600 fps . Handy since I have an 8.5 and 9.5 twist . A 9.5 in the 7×57 , 8.5 in the 7RWH . The bullet would be nearly 1.25 long . Off puts ..... I've heard about the 6.5 cruise missile breaking up , I don't need that with a super long bullet . I have a few 120 SP Sierras and some 154 HPBT Hornadys . Obviously I want to shoot cast for cost and fun but I also have no issues with moving on up to a paper patched bullet ........ which unfortunately the 7mm 168 will probably do in this traditional 175 RN reamed chamber .

Ok I'm ready for the suggestions letter' rip !

I have a 7 tcu 12", 7-30 Waters 23", old Santa Ana 280 rebarrelled 98 and a Mod 93 neither of which would probably reach the lands with a 210 gr bullet. My Mauser Mark X in 7x57 has a great bore and shoots the 150 Noe well. I consider a 180+ 7,, heavy but can barely see the sights on the 93 and the 380 still shoots 175 and 149 gr jacketed very well so my money follows other projects. i am watching this one.

Looking for a iron sighted "commercial" Mauser 7X57 for awhile now, maybe another CZ.Love the 7's with cast, flatter shooting with less recoil than 30's when jacked up.And am with John above, watching this one.

I mostly played with the 145gr silhouette for smaller game [coyotes on down]
the 7x57 is the perfect size for fox and rock chucks with cast bullets.

All I've used is the Lee 130 in 7-08. I'm certain there are far better bullet choices out there.

the soup can on top of like 5 grs. of red-dot is pretty good out to 100 yds or for small game hunting in the 7-08.

DWM 1916 with an AB barrel and a Jeager trigger .
I have a Weaver 4x with a fine wire for it .
I have a friend we don't talk about here that fixed the bedding last weekend . I have a couple of broken screws to remove to get the mounts back on it and some cold blue to do before I get on to it .
I remembered I have a boat load of samples I was given or traded for when I started the 7RWH .

Let me guess.....his name is Grits?,haha.

That would be a good name for a iron sighted Husky 7X57 though...."grab ole Grits ____ ( insert Gbabies name here),and let's go shoot a meat deer".

RB,what's the heaviest 7 bullet/mould that's "easily or readily" availible? And does it make any deer wacking sense?..... say,vs me shooting 130's @2500.

I havent killed anything with a 7mm in my life, but have shot a lot of deer with a .270, 30-30, '06, and 6.5x55 and my conclusion is that anything over 150 grains is just wasting velocity potential. I believe Intheshop has the right idea, 130 @2500.

My "7" is a Savage 99 284... Love it. But man I wish I had a nice FW 7 Mauser! 7-08 wouldn't be a bad thing either. In about a 6-6.5 lb 20" bbl 1.5-4.5x32 scoped rifle. I DO have same basic in a Win FW in 6.5x55 Swede. And soon (if I EVER get it finished... 25 yr project!) a sporter 6.5 Mauser too. Boyd laminate stock for it that is gonna have to go on a severe weight loss program! I love the 6.5/7mm bullets. IMO, work and kill way beyond their size.
