8MM Mauser

I use the 8mm Karibiner, still available from Mid South IIRC. Shoots great in anything with a decent barrel so far. But if you are shooting a 7.65 Argie you want .312-.315, not .323-.325. Maybe I'm confused on what you're asking.

I was in on the original 8mm Karabiner buy. It was designedf the worn throat military rifles that were plentiful and cheap in those days. Use it in a barrel with an unworn throat and you have to seat the bullet way deep in the case.

I have a monstrous-heavy (236 grains!) Lee double-cavity 8mm custom mould design that Buckshot had extras of, and I bought from him. It is an accurate design, pretty close to the Lee 8mm x 175 grain critter in terms of grouping. But add 60 grains of metal to the mix, and that ol' 8mm would let you know that the primers functioned in good order.

Yea sorry for confusion. I have many 30/31 cal molds. I have one fat louverne that drops .318/319 but nothing yet in 325 range.
I just committed to a mold IDEAL #323470 from S mac

That 323470 is a great Loverin design for most 8mm cartridges. I use it exclusively for both my 1888/05 German Commission Rifle and my .32 Winchester Special Winchester when I size it at .323" for their .321" bores. For my 8x57 and 8mm-06 rifles I size them as cast at around .325" with my alloy blend.

Lee's 175gr 8mm Round nose mold is a good bullet with that small flat nose just begging for some to modify the mold for a hollowpoint but I haven't been able to get it done.

Midsouth Shooter's Supply sells those Lee 8mm Karabiner and 8mm Max bullets which drop at 215gr and 225gr respectively. I use the Karabiner in my 8mm-06 rifle so it can shot with the best available cartridge size to propel that heavy bullet to respectable velocities.

For your .31 or 7.65 Caliber Argie, I love LEE's 175gr .312" bullet with the same nose profile as the rest of LEE's rifle bullets (see above) as it drops at .313" with my alloy which works in my 7.7 Arisaka, and my British Lee-Enfield rifles. My other .31 caliber mold is Lyman's 323299 which is a 200gr mold that is an almost duplicate of the .311299 200gr bullet but just a little shorter in overall length than the 311299 200gr cast bullet.

I believe mine is a later commercial version, I know it's from Mid South. I use it in what was an unissued M48 (M48a ?) Yugo Mauser seated into the throat. It's not overly deep at all in my rifle. I've also used it in some other Mauser 8mm's, but their barrels are/were so worn you have to stop before the bullet is out of the case. Surprisingly, one gun shot them pretty fair for what it was. The other, which I still have, is near hopeless with cast.

CWLS, Whether #311467 will shoot well in your Argentine Mauser will primarily depend on the Argie's bore dimension and how "wide" that CB will be (bore condition, powder charges, etc. are givens). For ex., I have a Modelo 1909, which needs either a .314" or .313" CB to shoot its best. At first, I relied on Ly. 314299, but later ordered a "fat," 195gr. Loverin from CBE (Jim Allison) in NSW, OZ. (Btw, this was well before we had the custom mould makers that now exist.) Just a thought, if -467 casts too small for your bore, you can beagle it. Additionally, 12 - 13 gr. Unique is very pleasant and accurate in my rifle. Hope this provides some food for thought....

Same here, and with the Lee 312-185.

Edit to add: When I had the Yugo re-worked K89k, and an unissued 24/47, they both shot very accurately with Unique.

Ben - if you are a big 8mm fan, you need to visit Larrys! Bunch of Mauser sporters, complete with d&t receivers, aftermarket bbls, sporter stocks AND VERY nice double set triggers. And $300-$370! Kicker - no recoil pad! And they will need one!

Any of you other yahoos interested in such an animal, I would be happy to help pick a nice one out and work with the local LGS for transfer. I almost had to duct tape my hands behind my back after throwing my wallet in the parking lot to keep from taking one home! I do NOT need an 8MM! I DO NOT! (I keep telling myself! - espc after buying 2 357 revolvers today... just sayin'!)

Didnt get much traction here on my end. Loads shot OK not note able. Got excited with one Argie and a 03A3 both shoot nearly touching holes @ 100.

I have another thread going on a 8mm/200 LEE. Turns out its a 8mm dropping .322.5 bullets of first harder alloy I tried. But bullet weight is almost 240g!!! RenderedImage.jpeg

Sorry for collor shown. This is as xast and light coming thru tinted front windos has given it this green cast.

Starting a search for some Data. Wondering if the "Harris" load is appropriate here? I have plenty of Red Dot. But will also try 2400. Hoping a old Lyman manual has some data.
