9 mm with BLL

I decided to see how well BLL would work in my CZ75B in 9 mm.
Bullets were cast from range scrap and air cooled. After a coating in BLL they were sized to .3568. I had been sizing to .359 but think the slight leading I get in the beginning of the barrel is due to an over size bullet. I went a bit smaller than I expect best results with because it is far easier to remove more metal than it is to put some back!
Load is a Lee 120 TC with standard groove, BLL, and 4 gr of HP38.
The load shot well but I had a few keyholes and some signs of bullet skid. Leading was prominent but only in the grooves and mostly in the middle of the barrel.
I want to lap the sized out a bit larger, maybe .3575 and rerun another 200 rounds.
The gun was amazingly clean after 200 rounds fired in about 30 minutes. I wanted to see how well BLL stands up to a hot gun and it didn't flinch.

Never needed harder in 9mm, but did need fatter. Good to hear that the
BLL may work - once your diam is correct. Waiting for more results.

I agree entirely. Harder isn't needed but these area bit small. I think another .001 will make a huge difference.
Sure is nice to be able to make a sizer the size I want.

Opened the sizer up to .3574 today. If all goes well I can shoot some on Tues AM and see how they do.
I have no doubt the BLL will be up to the task.

I use 92/6/2 alloy for my 9mm Para casting, and my mic shows a "tenth" either side of .3572" when sized in my Lyman .357" H&I die. This suffices in my 2 SIG-Sauer and 1 Ruger 9mm barrel for zero leading and accuracy like that given by jacketed bullets and/or factory loads. Both Javelina Alox 50/50 and Carnauba Red give good service; the high-speed C-Red is probably "gilding the lily" a bit, but what the heck. My older 450 is using its/my last stick of Javelina......the company is out of business, so I've converted to LSS products with my two sizers loaded with C-Red or 50/50. Much more black powder cartridge shooting will prompt another 450 or 4500 and SPG......I'm close to that point.

Al, if you would like some Javelina ask and ye shall receive. Many years ago I bought a case of it from a gun store going out of business, never used much of it and still have most of it. If you want it it's all yours. :D

Rick, I appreciate the offer but went ahead and bought a dozen sticks of LSS' Alox 50/50 at the same time I bought a like amount of their Carnauba Red--so I'm in fair shape lube-wise for a while.

Rick if you are selling that 50-50, I would like to purchase a few
sticks. It is a perennial favorite for me. What would you want for
5 or maybe 7 sticks. I have not the slightest concept if a case is 10 or 144
sticks of the stuff.

No, not selling it but if you can use it it's yours for the asking. Perhaps case wasn't the right word, I bought a box that had something like 8 or 10 sticks in it. Been sitting in the cabinet under the loading bench ever since. I'll have to dig it out and see, there has to be at least 5 sticks left.

Please let me at least pay for the shipping. I assume you no longer
use 50-50 lube? Are you sure I can't pay some reasonable value for it?
Thanks for your generosity. I have the makings for Ben's Red and BLL,
and Glen's lube, but still use 50-50 in a number of loadings, and like
it well.

PM me your shipping address. As for cost I think should our paths ever cross you'll be owing me a cup of coffee, hot strong & black.

Another of many examples of how this is such a good, decent place. I really like it here, folks.

Hhmmm . . . Good thing for email alerts, I just got one from the CB forum notifying me of a PM. I haven't logged on over the there in several months, but for the email alert I would never have seen it. Anyway, thanks Bill. Next trip to town and it's on the way.

I still stop by CB from time to time. Some of the questions are pretty uninteresting,
these days, though.

Javelina lube is now in the loving, caring, tender hands of Uncles Civil Servants, may God have mercy on it. :D Expected delivery date is Saturday the 13th. Tracking info PM'd to Bill.

Rick, I see your generosity is matched only by your gift for sarcasm, a rare but fine combination.
