9 mm with BLL

Fired 200 rounds in my CZ75 today. With BLL and a bullet, cast from range scrap, sized .358 I had minimal leading. Most of the lead was pushed out with a damp patch. I have had far worse with regular lubes in this gun.

I want to heat treat some of these bullets and see what difference that makes. Might be better, might be worse. I will find out.

I feel encouraged by what I saw today.

UUUmmm, sounds like you're making some good progress with BLL.

So far, so good.

After the 200 heat treated bullets are fired I will be over coating some traditional lubes bullets to see what happens.

I can remember years ago when I had minor leading in the throat of my 1911 a smart man said to try a thin coat of LLA on the bullets to see if it helped. It did. That man was Bass Akwards, a guy who knew his stuff.

He was one of those guys who just knew how to make stuff work. I learned a ton from him.

Jon is the one that got me going in the H/V direction in my rifles.
the most I have ever learned about shooting cast and what does and does't work has come from that endeavor.

Loaded 200 rounds this morning for the 9 mm using some heat treated bullets with BLL.
I got ZERO leading!

Bad news it that is because I left the ammo at home. I did fire 150 rounds from my 1911. I hate leaving ammo at home.

Not as bad as me leaving my bolt at home, 35 miles away.

But was it the bolt for the rifle you brought for your wife to shoot?

She was a good sport and watched me shoot and helped gather some lead.

She was a good sport. We may go back Sunday evening and shoot those rounds.

I can walk to this one. In a day. Last one was 42 miles one way, this one is less than 25.

That sucks. I have just a bit further to drive if not shooting at home.

The range here is about 2.5 miles away and it is free. I don't go there because I just shoot in the field next to my house. I told my neighbors if they heard gunfire at night it was just me shooting skunks. I shot a raccoon a couple of nights ago in the back yard.
