9mm with power pistol

Bought a 4 pounder of Power Pistol last week to try in the 9 m and 357.
Loaded 100 rounds of 5 gr under the Lee 120 TC and shot them in the CZ 75 B today.
It is a little noisier than other powder I have used but it seemed to shoot well. Leading was very minimal where the same batch of bullets leads far more with 3-3.5 gr of Red Dot.
Going to try a little more powder next time and see what it does. I would like to find a load that shoots to the sights which are fixed for elevation.

Anyone else have experience with Power Pistol in 9 mm?

Just .45 Super, .357 Maggot, and .38 Super. Good stuff, yes it's loud, and OMG flashy. Fireball from a snubby revolver at night surpasses Blue Dot. Best for higher-end loads.

Ian is learning all about auto correct and the fun it can be.
I am tired of the iPad making Rem into R.E.M. As the alternative rock band never made primers.

Did you run any of it across the lab radar Brad?

I’ve always been amazed by the single digit extreme spreads I get using power pistol.

Power pistol is one of my favorite powders. I load it in magnum cartridges for lite loads. Pretty hard to beat too when you are trying to push the velocity on 45 acp and 38 special ammo.

I shot 5 shots to get a general feel for how fast they were going. 1040 fps was the general range.
I think it will work well for the top end loads in 9mm and for upper mid range loads for 357 mag. Not gonna use it for lower end loads.

Actually that was on purpose...this time.

Hey, I'm not a hater, here's the deal: I'm just doing what's good for me and avoiding 9mm like the plague because it would automatically cost me a high-end six cavity mould, another AR-15 build with Glock lower, an armload of G18 mags, half a dozen Polymer 80 Glock kits and build kits, about 10k 1F brass, 20k primers, a Hornady LNL, hand-picked die set, and another tax stamp (or two if I got a CZ Scorpion and SBR'd it, which I would), so basically three Large up front and another two in the next two years.

Not going there any time soon.

you could just get a 1911 or CZ-75, a mold, 1 jug of powder, 2 sleeves of primers, and pick up 10-K pieces of brass off the ground like the rest of us.

He would still need the Dillon 550B. His autocorrect changed that to LNL, not sure why?
My CZ75B does well enough with a variety of moulds and range pickup brass.

I actually already have a six-cavity mould and three lifetimes of powder, and quite a few primers, but I also have a compulsive-excessive personality....

For now I have more than enough .45 ACP ammo, components, guns, and suppressors to keep me happy for a long time.

Compulsive excessive? Huh, never noticed.

I can totally understand a lack of desire to take on a new cartridge. A handgun round like 9mm yearns to be shot a bunch and that means lots of time casting and loading.

It isn’t just a new handgun, it is a new obsession for some. I totally get it.

I may or may not have that same cod or max compulsory syndrome.
I believe it is impossible to over do anything.

Well, somebody's gotta stockpile and save all this stuff for the War...at least that's what I keep telling my wife when she asks about things like why I brought home four sets of used Bobcat tires that were only about half worn out.

For 9mm, I've run PP with 356402 123 gr. Accurate but no better than my HS6 loads. With the Lee 356120 TC 121 gr, I use 5.0 on a normal basis but I did run 5.5 gr thru the LabRadar for 1190 fps from my 1911 5" Caspian. It is as accurate as my HS6 load and a whole lot less flash. For jacketed, I've used 6.3 gr behind the Remington 115 gr JHP and 5.2 gr pushing the Precision Delta 124 JHP. These all seemed safe in MY guns, they give you an idea of what PP will do, beside lighting up the night with flash. It also work fine in 38 Super with top velocities. Have fun...

I grew up poor (financially, but quite wealthy in many other ways) and it still affects my thinking. Making do with what I have on hand is automatic, something I still have to talk myself out of sometimes and just get in the truck, drive ten miles to town and buy what I need....plus enough extra whatevers while I'm at it so I won't run short again for a long time. I'm about to do that with leather work gloves, the three pairs of Wells Lamont gloves I have are completely shredded, last pair only lasted two weekends of cutting and hauling brush.

10k brass in 9mm means it was raining at the range during the match & no one stuck around to pick it up but me.

Ian's assessment seems about right on my end. Well, minus the .gov registration & tax payments, but I understand why he does that part.
