I have a Siamese Mauser Sporter in 45-70.

I have really enjoyed the rifle.
So far, I've shot 350 gr. and 405 gr. V , Accurate cast at .460" dia. with great success.
Out of curiosity, I've wanted to try the Lee .459", 500 gr. , 3 R, plain base.
I tried to order one from Titan about 8-9 months ago with zero luck. I received a bad mould and had to send it back to Lee for a credit.

I found this one and ordered it a few days ago. A single cavity that has been used very little. The dia. of a cast bullet from this mould is about .4605" with my alloy. I'm sizing to .460". I'm barely shinning up the sides of the bullet when running it through my sizing die.
I'll be testing these soon ? ? ?

Anyone with load data suggestions ? ?

Ben

Ben, l have shot this bullet a lot, in my buffalo classic, it will slap you around pretty good with black powder, but with 23 gr sr 4759 or 25 gr aa5744 it's not to bad and very accurate out to 200 yards (limit of our range) the so called experts say it's not very accurate past 600 yards, but my friend has shot it farther at gongs and likes it

I'll be following your progress, Ben.

Either me or the Pedersoli manufactured Navy Arms Buffalo Rifle have a 500-grain itch, and Lee's other 500-grain mould is gas checked.

Although this may sound a little unorthodox, this is a load that I shoot in my trapdoor when I'm not shooting black powder. 54grs WC872 with a 4gr kicker of RL-7 .030 card wad and a shortened mini groove cast bullet 466grs to top it off.The load is slightly compressed just like a black powder load.Shoots very well all the way out to 1000yds.FWIW-Mike.

Hope your berm is thick enough!
Those shouldn't be bad for recoil but you will know a trigger was pulled.

My friend Bryan used the 21 gr. of 2400 load you see above with the 500 gr. Lee bullet in his Knight KP - 1.

3 shots at 100 yards in less than 1".

I feel your pain ........that 460-543 NOE pulls 1,605 gr every pour . 4 pours per lb with a 5th every 3# . 78 pours , 234 bullets , 200 keepers if subject to the 22 visual cull for a loaded 20# . I guess you might get a few more .
