A range rifle comes Home

My Dad was a huge fan of falling block single shots and probably had the world's biggest and best collection of Stevens 44 1/2 rifles at one time (only two remain, I have them, both had significant issues which is why he didn't liquidate these), but a lot of High Walls, Rolling blocks and the occasional Ruger #1 and #3 floated through the collection.

In recent years, they have been really growing on mye, must be in my DNA. That rifle of yours really has my blood pumping, a nice falling block in .30-30 would get shot a lot if it were mine. Never had any interest in supressors, but if that's what it took to keep shooting, I certainly would.

That is a beautiful rifle.

Thanks!
He belonged to a trust fund that owns some suppressors and he thought he should have a rifle that would use one of them. The rifle is nicely balanced now, but don't' know how it would be with a can on the end.

Speechless - in more ways than one. Sad your friend is gone. Awesome you got 'his' rifle, and that it will give you wonderful memories of him every time you enjoy it.

Range Rifle update. Been plinking with it trying to learn how to use the tang sight and bubble front sight. Never done any serious work with either before.

Working with Ideal 308403, the Pope .30 caliber bullet today. Loaded 15, unsized, with Lee Liquid Alox and 15 with LS X-lox 2500 smeared with a finger. 14 grains of A2400 and Wolf LR primer.

It hated the LLA, as shown with the four shots at the bottom of the target. There was another that went off the paper. Cleaned the barrel well after those 15.

After ten of the X-lox 2500, I went back to this target for the two circled shots and then a sight correction for the three circled shots on the left.

Snakeoil, Thanks for the tip of being exact with the barrel placement on the rest. Resting there and not on the wood forend make a big difference.
