A spare PID

I have 3 Rex's and thought it might be wise to have a spare. Seems like the Chinese have lots of copies but maybe not the exact one's I use to spent quite a lot of time on ebay searching. There's several that even seem to copy the boxes of the Japanese one's that I know work but don't even say where they're made. Having corresponded with a couple guys I just want what I want. RKC made in Japan.

Anyhow finally found a place. I'll save the URL for a few days in case anyone is interested and can PM me for it. About $13 shipped which is more than reasonable for something I'll likely never actually need (I hope).

Mike is that add just for the controller? You have to add on all of the other componants.

Yes it's just the controller. Actually I screwed up posting that. My intention was just to do it as a PM for a fellow that requested it and I must have had my head on another planet. at that time.

Mine came today. It's obviously counterfeit and I contacted ebay to start the ball rolling to return it this evening. If you did order one you might want to return yours also.

Well some time has passed since I started this post. A complaint to ebay and paypal got my money refunded and I was not apparently under any obligation to return the controller. With the extra parts I had laying around I assembled them into a makeshift closure and have running the unit on my luber/heater this morning. The parameters appear to be the same as the Japanese unit. Results are same. Either unit set for 51° C and the Japanese one maintained 51° on the nose. Chinese one has maintained a steady 50° and that is certainly close enough. Good enough for a spare I think but I'll withhold final judgement until I try it on the lead pots too.
