I’m in love. I love that bullet design. Seems if you can’t have a leade in your gun put the leade on the bullet

Ben this is late to the thread. Could you please list all of the throat measurements. So i can see how the hard measurements from a throat dictate bullet shape? Even at the time of mold being ordered. Did you have a preliminary measurement for bullet seating depth?

Kevin,

I never made a pound cast of a rifle that I own. I have several .30 cal. rifles ( about 15 of them ).

Tom's instructions were to take the nose and make the first 1/2 of it .300" in dia. The 2nd 1/2 of the nose would be .301". Works fantastically in each of the rifles that I've tried it in. These numbers allow the bullet not to have to be seated deeply below the neck line of the case. This also creates a fairly long OAL for the loaded round. None of my rifles have a problem feeding the bullet.

Here is the bullet seated for my Handi , 30-30 Win.
They chamber just fine.

that seating depth in the picture is exactly how it would look in a 308 or 30-06 too.
you should see engraving marks on the nose and depending on your sizing [I would recommend little to none] some scuffing of the lead in front of the case as it enters the ball seat area of the chamber.

I haven't bought a new 30 caliber mould for a long time. I see a 4-cav Accurate Mold in my future--2 in 212H, 2 in 165A. I think Tom can do such things.

Tom is a great fellow to work with.
You tell him the alloy that you'll be casting with, and the dia. that you want the bullets to mike when they fall from the mould and he does the rest.

Try that with Lyman.................................

31-165A works great in my AR10 and I've been testing it in 300BO. Actually I use the 31-165C which is for PC, nose is just smaller and L.G. is tiny. Tom's cat. makes it look different but it has the same 'ball' seat style. Also need to try my 31-184C in the AR10 works great in the AR15 BO and 336 as well.

I have 5 of Tom's tools on hand so far, he has been great to deal with and his tools are EXQUISITE.

Ben,
Have you tried this bullet for feeding in a bolt or lever action?
Reason I ask is that I have two .308's, RAR and a BLR that are fairly persnickety feeding large meplat bullets.
This bullets looks to be perfect for the close range hunting that I do.
If feeds well might buy an extra single cavity and have Eric HP it.
Thanks for your reply.

My rifles are single stack mag guns.
They feed smooth as silk out of those rifles.
In a staggered mag, I don't know.

Thanks Ben,
I have two rifles with single stack mags, so that should be enough of an excuse to buy the 210H mold..

My friend shot a deer with this bullet yesterday at about 50 - 60 yards.
A 30-06 with 17.5 grs. of 2400 with the Accurate 212 H bullet.

A " quarter size " hole entrance and exit.

If you must hollow point the mould, I advise that you keep the HP pin short.
A deep HP pin can & will cause bullet blow up. Ask me how I know ? ? ?

Yeah Ben, plan is to buy a 3 or 4 cav. solid point and after load work up do some media testing on water jugs with a sheet of cardboard between the jugs to witness bullet expansion.
May not get a HP, just depends on how testing plays out.
Something to keep me busy next summer when not working in my garden.

I have killed maybe 40 deer with that size meplat (on a 35 pill) & all those deer would agree with you.
