A few weeks ago Waco posted about testing with his 223 AR and his mid velocity loads. Today I copied his experiment on a very small quantity of rounds just to see if my AR would run also. My test was a complete suksess. I was just testing for compete action function. All shells were completely ejected and the bolt was held back on every empty mag.
My load was the RCBS 22 - 055 raw sized to .224 PC and resized to .225 with COWW +1% pewter
OAL was 1/16" under mag. maximum
H335 with 18.6 18.9 19 grains of powder.
I used a NOE .224 neck sizer, and put just enough flair on the case to let the bullet seat without scraping. Then just flatten the flair
Now i have to look for some kind of accuracy i can get and see how fast it is flying.

Always good to have a place to start. H335 is one of my favorites in the .223 with cast bullets, with the caveat that I don't get much cold weather here.

Glad it worked Kevin. I’ll have mine out tomorrow slinging some cast freedom seeds for Independence day with my wife, son, and brother. Video soon to follow?......

Shooters World Tactical Rifle powder is supposed to work down to 18gr with a 55fmj. That might be an alternative if you can find it. I have to get with the commercial loader here to get some more. $135/8+lb cans. I bring him the jug and he fills to the top.
