I got outside and cast quite a few plain base Accurate, 157-R , 30 cal. bullets today. My grandson, Trevor will shoot these in the 30-30 Win, 308 Win., and 30-06. Some cheap shooting.

Tom @ Accurate Moulds cut this one to throw a .312" , .302 " cast bullet and that is exactly what these miked today. A nice snug fit in all of my .30 cal. rifles. I usually size to .310 for Trevor's Howa, 308 Win. rifle.

Ben, you ought to be ashamed: casting all those nice bullets just so Trevor will be forced to shoot them . . . ;)

You two are quite a team!

Thanks fellows,

The table is on casters.
I roll it out of the basement , plug up the pot and in about 25
minutes, I'm ready to make my 1st pour.
When finished, I let the alloy in the pot cool and harden.
Then, I roll the casting table back into the basement.
Been doing it this way for about 40 yrs. now.
I can't see much of a reason to change anything.

That’s a very nice set up Ben!
I am staying tuned for range reports.
I am wanting to set up a similar plain base mold for my 30-30 for my son to shoot.

I will often times cast for 3 - 4 hours at a time.
Standing for 4 hours would be difficult to impossible .

Nice bullets Ben. Looks like a great candidate for my model '94.

Ever since I saw pics of your casting bench, several years ago now, I imagined doing it that way in the next house. Well, we're in the next house and when I first looked at this house, some 5 months ago I visualized the casting bench on casters right by the garage door, so I could roll it out on a nice day or on a rainy day just open the garage door and direct a fan blowing across the bench and out the open door. Have an 8 foot deck extending out over the garage door. Very much looking forward to my first casting session here.

Snow?

Last time it snowed, here, Kevin, was February 1962.

What's not to like about thread drift?

Ben,
Is that pole running up the back of your bench for a stadium light or a sprinkler system?:)

Ben,
Those are some good looking bullets. I did not realize until now that you were a ladle caster. I think that has a lot to do with your quality bullets.
Merry Christmas, Malcolm
