they gave us a shot at 1 tag.
at least it is a reasonable 165$ tag and not some super lottery or a Bidding war.
but 1 tag in [1 area] an area with 200 known Grizzly's?

Can you imagine getting to be the guy or gal who actually shoots that one bear? It's going to be like that stupid lion all over again or like when wolf hunting first opened up. They should have done a bunch of them so one poor guy doesn't get targeted by every anti-hunting group on the planet until they find the next new shiny object to chase and whine about. Hopefully right after the guy tags that bear a bunch of Norwegians go kill a boat load of whales or something to distract them.

The environmental midgets had an anurism (SP) when NV set 25 resident only , 6 county tags for California brown , lesser brown (idk if that's a species but...) and black bear . There's like 7,000 bears , 140+ rated as 1st offender nuisance and 400 more 2nd offender nuisance bears and 25% of the sows throw 3-4 sets of twins lifetime . So any given year the gross population could grow by 25% with a loss rate as low as 5% . Normal mortality runs 7-11% as I recall with drug OD and vs auto being about 50% ......... Tahoe what else needs to be said ......more money than brains . End results the bear population grows by about 3% per yr .

The guy that killed the 1st legal hunted bear had 271 threats of personal injuy or worse and that many more against family and property . His truck was eventually totaled for glass , wheels , tires , and paint .

I seriously thought about putting in for the tag.
why not?
I could realistically do the whole hunt for under 500$ including gas, tag, and food for 3 weeks.
heck a wolf tag would only set me back another 12$, and I already have my hunting license for this and next year.
there is some good fishing up in the tag area too, so I figured I could haul the boat on up and try to sneak out looking like I was just fishing the island park lakes..

Don't get me wrong I would apply for it and kill one if I got the tag but the storm that would follow is probably not going to be a ton of fun. Thankfully I'm not on social media and I live in the sticks on a private road and our dogs definitely bite, (ask our UPS guy what happens when you ignore the signs and get out of the truck before I can kennel them) and the only neighbor we have hunts as well so it probably wouldn't be as bad as somebody who say lives in the suburbs. But I wouldn't kid myself any because no matter where you live the anti-hunt groups are going to make your life hard for a while after you kill it. I would still do it but yeah the poor guy that gets that first one is going to have it rough. I honestly hope it is some crotchety old millionaire who can afford to sue the pants off anybody who bugs him.

I can imagine the show the F&G will have over it too.
I understand you have to take some sort of course with them so you don't shoot a black bear by mistake,
and the usual sow with cubs other stuff applies.
you also have to report in to them after taking the bear so they can measure and blah-blah.
I'm sure there will be a questionnaire that follows either way.

I think all the aformentioned midgets ought to take in a couple bears and wolves for a while, since they're so cute and all.
