Advice for newbie

I don't have much time to shoot. Also, I wish there was a tool that works like a pencil sharpener and can scrap a bevel into the base of cast bullets so I can press on gas checks.
I think NOE has such a critter for chamfering gas check shanks, but not for installing checks. Pat Marlin makes a plain-base beer can checkmaker and those checks work great on PB bullets.
I have used the NOE bullet base chamfer tool.
I used it to remove "flash" from a bullet base (GC shank) to allow a GC to be easily seated. That was from a troublesome mold with a flaky sprue cutter...and also a couple others when there was operator error.
:embarrassed:

Ian is correct...I can't imagine it doing anything beyond fixing that problem...and that problem should be corrected via fixing the mold or casting technique...(or selling the mold, LOL). Because it won't reduce the size of the GC shank, if that is the problem.

Anyway, I have two of those NOE devices, one powered by hand, and the other with a hex end for a battery screwdriver or equiv...
I should sell 'em, cuz I don't plan on ever using them again.

champher tool here too.
then i figured out how to pour rounded gas check bases.
it ain't easy keeping the weights within a good range, but once you figure it out you can make a good run of them.
I made a post about one technique that worked for me, with a 410610 mold I got.

There are a bunch of us here that used to be there, put immense amounts of time and even $$ into it. There's a reason we're here now, we'll leave it at that.
I figured that was the case. Sometimes forums sort of go south for a bunch of folks. Personalities can really get in the way... So far (knock on wood) I haven't had any "bad" experiences over there, but I'm not a real heavy contributor. I tend to just comment on topics I have some knowledge of, which really limits my input :D
Or, I will comment to ask questions.
My experiences here have been nothing but good..... but I'm still a genuine newbie....
