why? i just want to know why? :headscratch:

i bought at an auction a sporter 93 mauser in i think, 7x57 and i bought a 1898 spr armory sporterized stock. its less than two of ben frankilin's bills.

i think(i'm doing too much of that lately) its a Venezuelan 93 mauser and its serial # is A 9XXX. it has for a crest the words fabrique nationale herstal liege instead of a picture. the picture doesn't show it. i am cleaning out the bore(boy does she need it!!!!) and the next step will be to take off the stock and clean the rifle off. i don't what i can use it for.......

on the other hand, i have a 1898 spr armory sporterized stock that will be used in my action. i have four of them: 2 rifles and 2 actions sans bolt. the actions are now stocked, everything else i have to buy.

....and when the mail showed up, i was greeted with a Numrich 6.5x55 swede "in the white" barrel. i will put that my son's 93 mauser(if the gunsmith approves). if not, there's always the 95 Chilean mauser action. and i forgot to photograph it.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
If it's anything like my 7x57 Mauser you'll find it's a great rifle and you'll wonder why it took you long to appreciate it. I could literally have just ny 7x57 and be perfectly happy center fire rifle-wise. It will do anything you need in the lower 48.

i've already had a 7x57 in a custom 98 mauser (FN) and it was great!!!!! i gave to my oldest son and he happily shoots deer with it. i haven't shot 7 mauser for years. but now i've got two of them. the one pictured here and a 98 Brazilian mauser.

I used to think the 30/06 was the best cartridge for the lower 48 states. But that was because I loved 1903 rifles, so I now have two 1903's. One in 7X57 and one in 275 Rigby, best of both worlds.
