I know Tommy Boy is!!

Im gonna start down the subsonic road.

Shooting a heavy cast. No suppressor, just lil quieter plinker loads.

Curious if anyone been down this rabbit hole.

H335, 4895 and varget, all will get you in the 1000 range. With a 250gr+ bullet. Twist is going to be important. 16 is going to be on the edge of stability.

I have a 230 grain NOE but I'm not sure I can make it feed.
I got a couple of 200 & 210gr molds.
I've got a 220 hollowpoint but none of those are really heavy enough in my mind.

I've got a 270 and a 280 grain but they both have long noses.

It's kind of why I'm looking at that 358430 mold, but it's 195 gr round nose. It's kind of light.

See Speer #12 and data for the 200 gr SIL bullet for a place to start . I don't know if it's listed in a max or not but it is for 357 .

How do you think the Lee 358-200 rnfp would work?
I have the RCBS 210-FP BULLET. As well as the Lyman 200 RN 358315. Should also be a good contender!!

I also have the lyman 358627 @ 220g.

I'd look really hard at 2400. 2400 is really too slow for a good burn at subsonic speed/pressure in the Legend but will likely burn long enough to cycle the action of an AR-15. I'd also not get too excited trying to exceed 200 grains in a 16" ROT. I tried going subsonic with my .35 Remington using 217-grain bullets and started getting scattergun groups and significant yaw at 25 yards when I dipped below about 1200 fps. It will be interesting to see what you guys come up with.

Okay........never mind. Using Tomme's info and case capacity for a 204 grain bullet and 2.155" OAL, 5.5 grains of Unique models about 1,025 fps from a 16" barrel. 13,000 psi max, all burnt at 4.5" and about 4,700 psi at 4.5" travel. Where's a carbine port again? 7.5" from breech face? So we have about 3,100 psi at the port, not gonna cycle.

19.0 grains of Varget models 1,072 fps at just under 11K psi peak and about 4,000 psi at the port. That's 82% of case capacity.

12 grains of Lil'Gun might do it.

But the best one I found is my old favorite Miracle Worker for ARs and weird calibers: Reloder 7. 15.0 grains gets 1,086 fos, 9,500 peak pressure....but 5,000 at a carbine port and a good long dwell to the muzzle. It will leave mummies that might cause jams if you have a suppressor, but is your best chance at subsonic loads that will cycle the action reliably. 5K at the port is pretty much minimum.

Good grief. Scope shopping and found that Leupold makes a dedicated 350 Legend scope. Elevation turret calibrated to the drop. Of all the obscure, specialty things that could have popped up, I sure didn't see that one coming.

If I remember right rl7 in my gun did not function till * or * grs with the Lee 200gr. I will have to look again.

Never mind above. 21gr is where I started and had full function.

. I have considered that scope myself. I have another buddy who said he was gonna go that route. I was kinda biding my time to see his first.

I am gonna build my SCR into a 350 legend. (98% sure) and altho I have a couple of my Fav 2-7 VXII scopes. Id consider this scope if the gun turns out to be a good shooter.

These are the SCR Rifles. The bottom one is going to become a "Dear" Rifle. 18" bbl, no muzzle device and different forend. Possibly wooden as butt. A 50 State legal rifle. I also found some true sub flush fit magazines!

Prepped cases last night. (After finding the cases!) Late last year Natchez has some once fired for sale. Tom warned me of crimped cases. Last night I started prep on the two bags and sure enough more then 1/2 was CRIMPED! All Winchesters. I have bought over 300 new loaded ammo so far. ALL 145 fmj cause I can buy so cheap. But after some near hazardous results. I wont shoot that ever again. (I WILL BUY!) I just tear them down and "rebuild" only using new bullets and factory primers cases (trimmed) and factory powder (properly weighed and metered)

Any how Imm swage these during my case prep duties tonight and tomorrow.

Then start my tests with sub sonics. At first its just a bolt gun so zero lo pressure worries. But as and when I build the SCR Ill probably want something that will cycle.

Speaking of barrels. Any one with more knowledge of AR barrels then myself, have any negative of this one? It seems about perfect but would prefer a faster twist. 1:12 ish. But mo one seems to have unless I deepen my pockets substantially. ;)

Call them and see if they will do a faster twist. There are a couple guys on facebook that do custom barrels too. Wilson Combat does a 1-14. If it was going to be only a subsonic myself I would want a 1-12". Then you could shoot everything. I think the guys on facebook do a 1-10.

here is one that may work.

Wilson is 1-15. I thought it was 1-14.

Have not heard of these guys but it looks good for a 16" barrel

update?
3 hrs. is a new operating system.

if it's a bolt gun I doubt I'd waste 15grs. of powder to do what 4 grs will do just fine.

I am going to try to get out Sat. I loaded a couple rounds each of imr4895 and varget at 20grs each. I have an adjustable gas block so I will open it all the way to test this.

I have to test my loads first.

Oh! I got a chrono from my buddy so I should have some #'s.

Win must be getting better on their brass. The 2 bags that came today all measured 1.702"-1.705" Not a single one was smashed or dented. I ran them through the FL die just to make sure. And NO CRIMPED primers!!!!!
