Anyone have extra Hornady .358 250 grain RN?

If you could spare 25-50 I would be happy to buy them from you. I'd take more if you got 'em. That's my hunting bullet and as you know they don't make them anymore.

How about this as a substitute?

https://www.speer-ammo.com/bullets/rifle-bullets/hot-cor-rifle-bullets/358/358-220-hcfn-bullet

or as another substitute

http://hawkbullets.com/bullet-selection.html --- they have a .030 jacket round nosed 250 in .358

Not cheap, but if you only hunt with them, not too bad.

I have the same issue with my 7x57, Hornady discontinued their excellent 175 RN 7mm bullet. Fortunately,
I ran into a guy on eBay (back when they would still permit component bullets to be sold, the fascists) who
sold me 7 unopened boxes of them for a really reasonable price. More than a lifetime supply for me.

If it were me Chris I'd dub (shorten) those 250gr spitzer noses back to a .200" or so meplat. There ain't a bear in upstate New York that would know the difference between 245 ish grains and 250! I think performance would be similar.... Could always soak up some newspaper and compare them....

I never thought of that, Pete. Can't see why it wouldn't work. Planning a wet paper test this summer, I could test that one.

I've got the 220's but have yet to try them. Those Hawk's look like old school hunting bullets, I have considered them but gosh, the price! Not that I mind paying for quality, I do not.

I took a look at Northforks, sort of a premium nosler design. $45/25 bullets.

I have yet to shoot a Nosler partition, they are available in 225 & 250 and relatively affordable. I could go that route unless somebody warns me off.

So far I have killed game with Barnes X, Sierra 225, Hornady 200 & 250. They all did well but the Horn 250 RN is my favorite for accuracy (1" at 100) and good terminal results.

Perhaps some retailer could talk Hornady into remaking a few runs of "golden oldies". I
have enough 175 Hornady RNs to last me for the rest of my life unless I start plinking
with them, but there may be some who want several of the old RN designs which are
no longer made.

Might not hurt to write a letter to Hornady.

contact Hornady.
I heard a rumor of them running some stuff as a seasonal run, and that the 250 might be one of the ones they put on the list.
they got the 50gr SPSX back going again [of course right after I bought 2-K sierra match jackets]

Hawk Bullets are a Whole nuther thang.

Some of the first rifle ammo I loaded, was for my Boss (at the time), and while doing some research on hunting bullets, I stumbled onto Hawk.
The Jackets are soft/annealed copper of different thickness...you specify the thickness you desire when ordering, or they will help you decide, depending on what Game you are going after. The cores are Pure Lead. This is why they are expensive. They are kind of a Hybrid between Cast bullets and traditional commercial jacketed bullets.

Check out their website for customer reviews, most include photos of game and recovered Bullets.

I would opt for the .030 or .035 jackets for any rifle stuff I bought from them.
they run soft and you get a pretty violent initial expansion even compared to a sierra bullet.

Since we are on the topic of custom bullets... anybody have experience with Woodleigh's? I know a fellow who bot lots of them while working in Australia, he thinks a lot of their performance.

Bill had a link above to Woodleigh .358's at gunbroker. I missed the end of the auction by an hour. Story of my life.
