Good to know, concerning the barrel fit anomaly between the G20 and G29. I hope that extended barrel does the things you want it to do for you.
Though I have been retired for 17 years, I still assess recoil and report in the context of trainee responses for the guys and gals that I worked with and trained. For at least half of my folks, the 10mm would be a bit more than they could manage. CW, myself, and everyone else here is a seasoned arms hobbyist. Most LE folks are not. About 50% of our guys and gals get that way, because getting shot at prompts such consciousness-raisings, and these days a significant number of our folks have had that experience.
45 ACP they manage readily. 40 S&W is roughly the same, though a lot of them state that 40 S&W recoil seems "Sharper and faster" (their words). So few deputies carry 9mm full-time that I don't think stats are valid; that FBI-touted 147 grain JHP loading at 925-950 FPS inspires little trust.
