Is it advisable to use this TC bullet in a tube magazine like a Marlin 336 or a Remington 141?

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
The general idea is that if the metplat isn't larger than the diameter of the primer then caution is advised. I don't know the specs on that bullet. The old 141's, or maybe the 14's had a spiral to the mag tube so the primers weren't centered. You can always load it as a 2 shot.

The meplat on the SAECO #399 and #396 is .200" @ 56% of bullet diameter.

#399 on the right and #396 on the left. This is a two diameter bullet. Both bullets in the picture have been sized, notice the top driving band wasn't touched by the sizer at all.

I had contacted Redding about this mold and asked for nose size and they gave the same answer. Still wondering if it is safe, as they didn't address the safety issue. Maybe will use the 2 shell approach method, better safe than sorry.

Measure the primer pocket. If it's under .200" your good to go. If the meplat fits into the primer pocket not so much.

I shoot a 396 in various 35 calibers. I like the bullet I wish I had a little larger meplat for Hunting. What is a shooting Bullet it's good that shoots well

I have the RCBS 35-200 but it has nose profile that is hard to chamber. I use a NOE nose sizer that takes off a little and will chamber easier. Just afraid that some time the bullet will be pushed into the case unknowingly and then fired. That's why I want to use a different nose profile. Also the 399 is 180 grains.

I've had some pretty good luck with 180gr Speer rounds in a 70s built 336. Flatter trajectory, and just as good for deer.

Where does the 35-200 scuff on the bullet? have had no issues on a 50s & 70s 336...

Thanks,
-A

I'm using a Remington 141 with tube magazine, and it will chamber, but right now, I have decided to use it as a 2 shot rifle. A friend has access to a mold and gave me a few bullets to try. So, I will load a few to see how they shoot before I go looking for a mold. Also have a Marlin waffle-top in 35 and plan on using the RCBS 200.
